Pakistan Declared Cheapest Country To Live In: Farrukh Habib

State Minister for Information Farrukh Habib on Sunday said that Pakistan has been ranked cheapest country to live in by the World Population Review in its annual report about the “cost of living for countries in 2021”.

In a series of tweets, he said the report showed that the country’s cost of living was 18.58 with 225.19 million population, followed by Afghanistan and India where the cost of living was 24.51 and 25.14 with population of 39.835 million and 1.39 billion, respectively.

The minister said the cost of living in Uzbekistan was 30.25, 30.69 in Nepal, 31.75 in Nigeria, 38.72 in Vietnam, 39.46 in Malaysia and 42.64 in Brazil.

He said the most expensive countries to live in were Cayman Islands and Bermuda where the cost of living was 141.64 and 138.22, respectively.

The cost of living in Switzerland was 122.67, while Norway had 104.49, he added.

Farrukh said the metrics used by the international organization to determine cost of living in each country included rent index, purchasing power, consumer price and grocery indices.

So are you suggesting that world population review didn't considered that before reviewing? You do realize that both things are interconnected. If more and more people are falling down the poverty line as you stated than that would mean Pakistan becoming an expensive county with higher prices of commodities that people couldnt afford.
Then there are other metrics as well but than that would be push the debate elsewhere.

You need education. Go get one, quick before it is too late.

I give you examples. May teach you a thing or two.

Take the example of UAE, Pakistan, BD, Nigeria etc. To make you understand the real problems with countries and how to read the data.

UAE For example is a cheap place to live, despite its high Per Capita Income and Purchasing Power of the people.

Nigeria and Bangladesh for examples are cheap country to live, but their population purchasing power is less than the prices they are paying. In case of Nigeria a huge huge problem, thus extreme poverty in poor people. Similarly BD has same issues , purchasing power is less than the cost of living.
Pakistan on the other hand has a positive purchasing power compared to cost of living.

There are other factors to consider off course, like distribution of income etc.
That's where Indians figures are distorted, even though the purchasing power is showing in positive, but it still has huge number of people living in abject poverty.

Compared to UAE, the Western rich countries for example UK and France do not have such a huge gap between cost of living and purchasing power.

UK Cost of f Living 70.64 and Purchasing power at 77.47
France , cost of living 77.59 and purchasing power at 76.36, New Zealand, Holland have similar problems like France. Slightly higher Cost of livings compared to Purchasing powers.

The worst imbalance is poor Barbados. Where poor get the huge burden, while few benefit from tourists as "Best Holiday Destination" tag. Cost of living 94.44 , while Purchasing power at only 30.74.

It is all relative. Even in Europe and USA there are plenty of poor people, homeless people, destitute.
Pakistan is cheap without shadow of a doubt.
They do consider everything in Cost of Living and comparative Purchasing power capabilities.
