Pakistan declared best country for infrastructure development

india is ahead i know. actually we are catching up. no competitions everyones own race.
India got ahead in "some" departments only recently (except maybe the railways).
Road infra was pathetic before Atal B Vajpayee came up with his golden quadrilateral. Even now, it's lagging behind pak.
Our blind nationalism, often hampers the vision in front of us.
We are so desperate for a good leader/administration, that we declare the best of the worst as the best of all and deposit our brains in the lockers of media houses.

Has a link to the report referenced in the original post been posted anywhere?

Never heard of "Emerging Markets" by World Bank + IMF.

Or its just a one-off statement/"award"?

Pakistan is a reform story like India’s ─ only better: economist

Construction and infrastructural development have been cited as the primary drivers behind Pakistan’s emergence as a frontier market by a Bloomberg report.

The construction sector grew at 11.3 per cent through FY14-15, nearly double the 5.7pc target, according to State Bank of Pakistan data.

London-based chief economist at Renaissance Capital Ltd Charlie Robertson said of Pakistan: “It is the best, undiscovered investment opportunity in emerging or frontier markets,” adding, “What’s changed is the delivery of reforms ─ privatisation, an improved fiscal picture and good relations with the IMF.”

Here is the complete story in DAWN.

Coming from "The News" (Geo Group), I highly doubt the credibility of this report.

They are known cheerleaders of Sharif for obvious reasons.

I would rather wait and see if the news is real.

people will support you if you do good work

What I noticed about your infrastructure what ever little that you guys show off -- it is well maintained and functional. Ours is quantity over quality. Our railways are prime example.

I remember returning after 6 years, how much Pakistan's infrastructure had changed. It'll give the illusion that you are in a developed country.
Oh please.

Karachi is more modern and has better infrastructure. However Lahore overtook Karachi's reputation because of migrant slums on the outskirts. Most documentaries or news pictures of Karachi are on the outskirts such as Lyari, which taints the image even further.
Sorry.

Lahore has much better infrastructure than Karachi at present. Karachi gives the impression of being cramped and poorly maintained, with the exception of few areas.

Islamabad is most modern and beautiful city of Pakistan
Perhaps

But its airport....

Another luxury home in Karachi, designed by a famous architectural firm ASA.

The thing is these type of houses are not in the picture as when you take a skyline or city snap, only high rises or apartments are visible, and not low rise homes.

Bro,

How is lifestyle of elites representative of the same of the entire city?

You will find many luxury houses in Lahore and Islamabad. But I don't count them.

You are right about it, quantity and quality, but Delhi metro is a class apart...Here are some pics about Islamabad BRTS, and a couple of videos.

Really enjoyed the BRTS video at the bottom.

Can you tell me what is the total length of this system and the other BRTS systems in Pakistan.

More onboard videos would be very welcome.

Thanks.

Lahore BRT 27 KM

Islamabad BRT 22.5 KM

Multan BRT 18.2 KM (To be completed this year )

Karachi BRT 109 KM ( To be completed next year )

Peshawer BRT 18.4 KM ( approved )

Our BRT's are a bit different to other countries . BRT runs on the same roads as other traffic in other Countries , In Pakistan we build the same infrastructure for BRT as required for an LRT project .

Actually Ottawa, Canada has dedicated BRT known as transitway.....large parts are segregated bus only.

I guess for Pakistan it will make converting into a metro rail system easier down the road.

lahore looks very good ,the roads look so much better than our indian roads

Its not only Lahore.

My city (which is a small city in the poorest region of Pakistan (South Punjab)) has pretty awesome roads and I was shocked to see great/neat clean public parks as I went this year.

But rest assured, only "roads" are nice. Traffic is like a JUNGLE!!!!!

Most of the work i see is from private sector but anyway still waiting for the grand plan of no load shedding in few years.

i am also from south punjab and i went to my home in March. i was astonished to see the development projects going on. People are satisfied with the performance of current Govt. Load shedding is now scheduled but water is still not there. People used to travel and bring drinking water in bottles.

Bhae traffic ka tau koi haal nahe pakistan mai ...

There is no angel in world but thigs only looks better cuz culprits are on seat normally u will know what they have done after they are gone.. plus 23 billions dollars is maybe nothing to u but this is nawaz and Pakistans asserts..
All i am saying he is not even honest.

here every one is lesser dishonest or more dishonest, including u and me sir.

I think.....(as I have not visited pak yet)
Roads : Pakistan still better, while india is trying to catch up.
Railroad : india hands down.
Airports n seaports : agree. It's india.
So in short;
ROAD: We agree
Airports: We agree
Railroad: Lets agree to disagree :)
