USA has rarely or never invested or given aid in nay projects for welfare of country. it simplely does short cut way and gives aid directly to leaders to eat it up. as the aid is rarely audited it goes much into corruption.

US aid is meaningful only if its in hardware militery like choppers for counter insurgency or its in mainstream public like schools colleges or dams etc..

so this 700 million cant effect a country with 200+ gdp and 25+ exports
it merely equal to about 8% total DEVELOPMENTAL expenditures and merely 2% of total budget..so its effect is absolutely negligible statistically..
in fact the peace associated with our lack of supporting USA may in fact benefit us more. e.g pakistani taliban after this desicion have decided to do a cease fire.

just say we paid 100 billion to fill in PIA deficit due to corruption thats twice the Aid USA is giving to us. govt institutes are eating approx 400 billion ruppess about 5x times the aid USA is giving..none of these institutes were going in negative 5 years ago..

so corruption is issue among pakistanis not a few million dollars of US aid for 17 crore population..


besides its US to lose the western path is 10-15 times more expensive ..and we are providing it absolutely free with no taxes..i think this doesnt even covers the damage to our infrastructure thats caused by this heavy movement of loads

i dont know why americans are behaving so idiotic.

Only “12-15 percent of the total amount is channeled for budgetary support"


(which is worth mentioning since much of the "aid" taken by IFIs is to pay back previous loans......."debt trap")


but that is loans (which are repaid)....back on the subject of so-called "aid"

--> 50% of the aid has to be spent on US ‘contractors’ under US law, so this goes back to America.

-->25% is wasted on administrative expenses.


the 'aam-aadmi' benefits 20 cents from this "aid"

That is good to know, if it remains steadfastly true.

The statement will hold strong for average Pakistani, it may change for the 3-5% ruling elite. Undeniable fact is that we do not 'need' any aid. I am an average Pakistani and the aid money has never made a difference to me, neither has it influenced anyone I know. I hope the ban is permanent.

VC - This so called aid never gets to the destination or the place its needed and simply ends up in third party accounts such as corrupt politicians.USA would be doing us a favour if they were to keep this aid as it will give Pakistan an oppertunity to stand on its own feet - mid 90s there was sanctions and we did remarkably well. Lets hope it stays in place. I believe only 10% of US aid hits the destination its aimed for.

Only politicians are worried because they have their families living in US/UK.

US media war has done more damage to Pakistan's image than the announced aid package.
