Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has been living in exile in London but is considering a political comeback.

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- A court in Pakistan reissued an arrest warrant Saturday for former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf in connection with the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, a public prosecutor told CNN.

Prosecutors claim that an investigation shows Musharraf was responsible for not providing adequate protection for Bhutto and has not responded to a prosecutor's request to answer questions, prompting the court-ordered arrest warrant.

Authorities were unable to serve an arrest warrant issued last week because Musharraf is not in Pakistan, prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali told CNN.

Ali said the court ordered authorities to serve the new warrant at all of Musharraf's residences, including those abroad.

Musharraf is currently living in self-imposed exile in London.

Ali said the court was adjourned until March 5.

Bhutto, who spent many years in exile, was assassinated in 2007 as she campaigned against Musharraf for the presidency.

Some have accused Musharraf of being involved in the assassination, but Musharraf denies any involvement. Late last year, Pakistani authorities arrested two police officials in the case.

A United Nations panel looking into Bhutto's assassination concluded that Pakistan's former military-led government failed to adequately protect her and that intelligence agencies hindered the subsequent investigation.

The panel's scathing report in April 2010 said the suicide bombing that killed Bhutto "could have been prevented" and that police deliberately failed to pursue an effective investigation into the killings. But Musharraf's government has said Bhutto had been afforded adequate protection.

Musharraf's legal adviser told CNN that Musharraf has not appeared before the court because the accusations against him are baseless and politically motivated.

"This is political victimization against Musharraf," Muhammad Ali Saif said. "Musharraf was never contacted by investigators to get his version of the assassination."

Musharraf went to London after resigning in 2008.

He decided to start a political party last year and make a comeback. He has said he wants to return for a presidential run in 2013 because he sees suffering in Pakistan and doesn't see a political party offering a solution.

Journalist Nasir Habib contributed to this report.

Nothing will come out of this warrant, except that Musharraf will have to extend his foreign vacation. But no Pakistani court will be able to physically put him in the dock.

Musharaff the soldier has metamorphosed into Musharaff the politician.
"What's love got to do with it." - in the words of a song.

OR

Seems like the courts have decided they want the government to go.

Kind of like check mate ... they know the government doesn't have the spine to launch an international warrant
AND they know this is enough to provoke the people.

Mr Zardari, we have had enough of you...

you think you are the only clever soul here ?

who is using Musharraf card in the current government is he threat to current government stability or its being used to get PML(N) support.

I doubt PML(N) is capable of exploiting this to their advantage.
Like many many other things, they will blow this too hot ... and burn their own fingers trying to eat it.

No one wants the present PPP gov any more, not a single freaking face !

.
No matter what they do but we know that Musharraf will be Inshah Allah stay safe and he will come to Pakistan for sure this is a fact that he will come soon. See Musharraf told early that he is coming back to Pakistan this year and now PPP and PML-N and other opponents of Musharraf just wanna cash his home coming as warrants. See it's good that one it is sure that he is coming for example he is coming in June! they will issue or try to issue interpol warrants so it will look like that he didn't come himself but he was brought back to Pakistan! just a political gain and revenge

So when zardari was on a honeymoon after his release from jails in dubai and england with his wife, did fia wanted his arrested in a confirmed $60M corruption case? No? How many of the corrupt bankers/politicians went outside..

I'm not pro mushy but It clearly is plot against former President of Pakistan by CJ/nawaz/ppp because they've realized they won't be able to win in the next election with mushy around so lets put him behind bars to hold on to monopoly.

This is also a very plausible scenario ...
but again, don't you think PPP, Nawaz know how much they are capable of ?
they can make claims in press and public, but if those claims are not upheld who will take the wrath ?
