ISLAMABAD: Pakistan in collaboration with China will establish state-of-the-art technical and vocational institutes at strategic nodes along with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route.
Talking to APP, National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Executive Director Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema said that China will boost cooperation with Pakistan in the technical and vocational sector and establish TVET institutes in Gilgit, Mansehra, DI Khan, Abbottabad, Quetta and Gwadar.
The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission as an advisory body to the federal government on TVET has taken vital initiatives to introduce reforms in the current technical and vocational system of Pakistan, he said.
Cheema said that the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission has initiated some new steps, including establishment of Job Placement Center and introducing competency-based training across the country.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would open new vistas of prosperity and development and offers enormous employment opportunities for the people of Pakistan, he said.
The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission executive director said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a living reflection of a strong Pak-China bond and it will serve geostrategic interests of the two countries.
Both the countries should enhance their collaboration to reboot the TVET system in Pakistan, he urged.
Skilled youth is the most powerful tool for poverty alleviation and can play an important role in the socioeconomic development of the country, he said.
China has extended its full cooperation in starting a teacher’s training programme, establishment of a research center at Islamabad and upgrading the existing labs equipment and institutes of Pakistan, he said.
