Seeing the friendship between Pakistan and China, I always wondered why a Pakistani hasn't been co-opted in the Chinese space program as yet and trained with the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA). Is there any Pakistani being trained for future missions with CNSA?

An Indian cosmonaut, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, AC, Hero of the Soviet Union, went into space with the Russians on board the Soyuz T-11 as part of the Intercosmos program way back in April 1984. It would be nice to see a Pakistani out there too!

Pakistan and China proceed to cooperate in space technology, as the latter makes major breakthroughs in its pursuits.

BEIJING: Pakistan and China are actively cooperating in space technology, said Wu Ping, the spokesperson for China Manned Space Engineering Programme, here on Sunday.

She expressed these views while responding to a question at a press conference she addressed to brief the media about the successful manual docking between the Shenzhou-9 spacecraft and the orbiting Tiangong-1 lab module by three Chinese astronauts.

It was the first such attempt in China’s history of space exploration. In reply to a question, Ms Wu said that with further advancement “we will use our technology to train foreign astronauts and possibly they will be taken onboard China Shenzhou spacecraft”.

She said that Liu Yang, lady astronaut aboard the Shenzhou-9, was in charge of space experiments and doing her job smoothly.

Being the first lady in space, she was provided all facilities.—APP

This involvement might range from simply sending astronauts to the 60 tons class space station to contributing with development of a space laboratory module. And pray, what has Pakistan offered or can offer to China except acting as its proxy to keep India's attention engaged toward the Western border?

And what has China offered Pakistan? Zilch! Except for arming Pakistan from nukes to aircraft, they have offered nothing economically or diplomatically. 1965,1971, Kargil and the perpetual refusal to bail out Pakistan economically are cases in point. Heck, they've not even kept up their promise of giving the $300 million in aid for Pakistan's flood victims even after so many years. They have managed to disburse just $43 million so far!! ( 'Enemy Hindu Zionists' have given more than $20 million for flood aid to Pakistan! )
