In my field, I have not come across a single research paper from Pakistan; yet from Iran or India, it is very common to see very good research work coming through or even more are Chinese researchers. no papers for past 20 yrs from any arab countries; i only read one paper on anthropological cryptography from a professor in Riyadh university.
I am doing my 2nd doctorate in case someone decides to throw stones; need to keep busy with thoughts and work - serious drought here and farm life has been severely affected; getting by.
Ranking of universities is very subjective and lot of weight is around how much money is coming in from industry etc etc. That to me is not the work of universities to be soliciting money; teaching institutions need to be independent otherwise there is undue influence.
