Pakistan Army rescued US mountaineer Robert Jackson from K-2 base camp.

The 38-year-old is part of a 27-member team on an expedition of K-2 starting from June 16.

“He suffered height sickness enroute to K-2 summit and was brought to Skardu through army aviation helicopters,” an Inter Services Public Relations statement read.

Further, South African-born Swiss explorer and adventurer, Mike Horn, is also currently in Pakistan in a bid to conquer the second highest mountain in the world, K2. Samina Baig, the first Pakistani woman and the third Pakistani to climb Mount Everest, and her brother, Mirza Ali, are also on a recent expedition to scale K-2.

Earlier in May, Pakistani mountaineer, Shaheen Baig, was one of the fortunate ones who survived the deadly earthquake which tore at the very heart of Nepal recently.

If you want to have this heli service in case of emergency, it is a 10,000 USD deposit with the Army. Otherwise, Army may or may not rescue you and if they do, you will have to pay in full unless waived by the Government of Pakistan.

She'd be the first Pakistani woman to climb the most difficult monster of them all.

C'mon! Make us proud!

Half-Butt Sahib, so how many have you climbed ? :azn:

Hahaha. Yarra, 4; Hom Broq, Saling Peak, Maglik Sar and Rush Peak. No where even close to what Ms. Baig is planning to do and has already done. Godspeed Ms. Baig.

ps: There have been many other failed attempts, some by only a few tens of meters  Got other climbs under the belt too but they weren't of peaks.

Oh btw, I was in our "abai illaqajaat" recently.... you know, northern Kashmir  Got quite a few pictures to share.
