As for Pakistan,, they will be dependent on the firm for spares unless they plan to retire these workhorses mass scale.

Spares? Which spares? You can buy third party parts. Land rover is simple vehicle, nothing high tech about it.

Lol, land Rover is owned by Tata, I doubt that this rugged design was thought or even considered by Tata Engineers. Please do give due credits to original Land Rover Engineers for this marvel, not to any Tata Engineer.

This was discussed long ago of PA having Land Rovers in it inventory and Tata acquiring Land Rover.

So in a nut shell, PA using Land Rover Defender is no feather cap in Tata, since its a hall mark of Land Rover long before Tata acquired it.

LR def was a crap way before indians took over. the 2.0 Turbo diesel was not good or rugged enough. the oil cooler kept boiling over. 502 wkshp had to actually send mechanics to solihul UK , just to get trained on them.

LR never knew how to make a jeep , their civilian Range rover has air suspension ( which if broken, is harder to fix vs brain cancer) . toyota uses regular mcpherson springs even in their range topping lexus ( they are so reliable)

no idea why PA even inducted LR DEF in the first place when the sturdy RKR /RMR had no issues

which is why Pakistan Army along with the rest of the world stopped buying the land rovers. here in the united states, land rover used to be the soccer mom's suv of choice for the upper middle class american families but ever since tata took over, the quality has taken a nose dive...you don't many new land rovers on the road any more as once used to be before tata took over...

Just last financial year (2017-18) Jaguar Land rover had a profit of whopping £1.5 billion (one of it's highest ever).
