BEIJING - China launched the Long March 2C rocket, which was carrying two Pakistan remote sensing satellites into the orbit, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre at 11:56am Monday.

The PRSS-1 is China's first optical remote sensing satellite sold to Pakistan and the 17th satellite developed by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) for an overseas buyer

A scientific experiment satellite, PakTES-1A, developed by Pakistan, was sent into orbit via the same rocket.

The Pakistan Remote Sensing Double Star will be mainly used in Pakistan for land resources survey, evaluation, dynamic monitoring and management, resource utilisation, environmental disaster monitoring, agricultural survey, and urban construction.

It will play a positive role in the development of Pakistan's economy and improve the lives of people. Alongside, it will also provide space remote sensing information services for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which is flagship project of Belt and Road Initiative.

The satellite, which has a designed life of seven years, is equipped with two panchromatic/multispectral cameras, with a resolution up to a meter and a coverage range of 60 km.

Designers say the two cameras are among the best exported remote sensing cameras made by China. They can be used to monitor plant diseases and pests.

The launch of the rockets marks yet another space cooperation between China and Pakistan since the launch of PAKSAT-1R, a communication satellite, in August 2011.

It is also the first international commercial launch for a Long March-2C rocket within nearly two decades after it carried Motorola's Iridium satellites into orbit in 1999.

According to Xu Qin, deputy chief designer of the Changjiu Rocket, with the continuous development of China's remote sensing satellite technology. In May 2016, China and Pakistan had signed a contract for the Pakistan Remote Sensing Double Star Project, and China took the whole star export as an opportunity in the project.

The use of remote sensing satellites independently developed by China has promoted the return of long-two-propane rockets to the international market.

“Before the launch, our model team and the Pakistani side had conducted many communication and coordination, stepped down and batched the task requirements, and provided thoughtful and watchful service, which was highly praised by the Pakistani side”, Guo Wu, deputy commander of the March 2 C rocket added.

milestone in space technology ..YE MUH AUR MASUR KI DAAL
Bhai jan milestones doesn't have to be too big! It may seem less significant to Indians but those small steps means a lot for us especially when our budget does not allow large spending in this field. BTW Indians used to mock Pakistan same way for our Nuclear aspirations till the day we put our Nukes to test.

It is quite amusing, rather hilarious to see Indian members in such pain. It is a big step for Pakistani space program that remained virtually stagnated for decades thanks to corruption and sanctions. Indeed, nothing short of a milestone for us.

No doubt a milestone. Now we can keep an eye on Rapistan.

Carrying two Pakistan remote sensing satellites into the orbit, China has officially launched the Long March 2C rocket at 11:56 am today from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre.
China’s PRSS-1 is 17th satellite created by the CAST* for an international buyer. It is also the country’s first optical remote sensing satellite sold to Pakistan.

PakTES-1A, a scientific experiment satellite developed by Pakistan, was also sent in the orbit via same rocket. The Pakistan Remote Sensing Double Star will basically do its part by helping Pakistan urban construction, agricultural survey, environmental disaster monitoring, efficient utilization of resources, dynamic monitoring and management, evaluation, and land resources surveys.

It is aimed and expected to aid in improving the lives of people living in the country and play a pivotal role in improving Pakistan’s economy. With that, the satellite will also provide space remote sensing information services CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor).

Satellite, with the design life of seven years, has two panchromatic or multispectral cameras. The cameras have a coverage range of 60 km and resolution up to a meter.

China launched 2 satellites for #Pakistan on a Long March-2C rocket from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest #China. PRSS-1 will be used for land & resources surveying & monitoring of natural disasters. PakTES-1A developed by Pakistan was sent into orbit via same rocket.

According to the designers, the two cameras are the ‘best’ exported remote sensing cameras ever made by China. Due to their precision, they can even be used to monitor plant diseases and pests.

The launch of rockets also marks another well-executed space corporation between neighbor-friends, after August 2011’s communication satellite PAKSAT-1R.

“Before the launch, our model team and the Pakistani side had conducted many communication and coordination, stepped down and batched the task requirements, and provided thoughtful and watchful service, which was highly praised by the Pakistani side” – says Guo Wu, deputy commander of the March 2C rocket.

Exactly what was the Pakistani achievement here?

Satellite are of Chinese and South African origin were launched by a Chinese built rocket from China by Chinese.

So which milestone did Pakistan achieve here?

They made one of the satellites I think.

Congrats... Hopefully when things are normalized India and all South Asian countries can co-operate in this field.
