Yes, at this point I don't believe an escalation needs to occur. It's enough that Pakistan has formally issued a protest and disagreed with the language. If need be, SMQ can do a typical SMQ style press conference and say something along the lines of 'the transcripts and audio of the conversation are available for the State Department to review if they need clarification of Pakistan's position'. I would be surprised and disappointed if the actual audio was released at this point without US agreement.

And with respect to whether it should have, as I said before, the Pakistani protest needed to occur to ensure that the US also understands that Pakistan is not going to let even things like the wording of a statement go by unchallenged, if Pakistan disagrees.

The last thing needed right now is to get into a pointless tit for tat or to engage the US government on Twitter.
Because unless the Pakistani government is prepared to take it to Kim Jong Un’s level, we can’t out match the US and Indian Twitter force.

The best approach to the US is wait till the trip and then have the terrorism accusations out

So she stands by their read out...However, what she read for the journalists didnt include anything to do with terrorists....Meaning they are sidelining it and letting it slip pretending it is there (in imagination) and winding it up as a "read out"

The indian guy (Aditya Raj Kaul) who has quoted this, is a bimbo. He either didnt understand or relies on idiots who dont watch the whole video?! How is what she tried to sweep under the carpet an embarrassment for Pak? ESP when America wont even touch the issue nor will restate it in words?!

The way I heard the video is she is trying to brush it under the carpet like by saying I dont read out the entire read out....how long was the "readout" that she cant satisfy journalists questions?

You can hate IK as much as you want and maybe by the looks of it you don't like that PTI is in government.
You can criticize them as much as you want on domestic issues but when it comes to Pakistan vs some other country at least stand by your country then.

This is the first time in a decade that Pakistan has actually stood up for it self and countered a completely false statement made by the US which was extensively being used by the Indian media to further their propaganda.
