Pak visit for specific, narrow purpose: US Dy Secy of State

.
The Indian diaspora and it's influence backed by financials is a bitter reality at this time. However, I do know a thing or two about this situation and it goes back to the 90's. If Pakistan wants to establish relationships on equal terms with the US or EU or other countries similar to it, it needs to learn a key fact. That fact is very basic but it's opposite of how Pakistan internally works.

Pakistan will need to send in Civilians in suits and ties and not make every relationship limited to military-military only. This is the bitter reality Pakistan needs to understand. Military to military relationships are always limited to conflict and events and when these things end, the relationships end too. Civilians to Civilians relationships are based on business and social lives. These remain. Just because the Pakistani military does everything in Pakistan and it's the culture, doesn't mean that the US and other similar nations would work that way.

To an extent I agree. But with the same reality, which civilians you had in mind, who have done the good job!!
Those who rob Pakistan and looking the opportunities to invest the looted money in the West!!
Those who double cross heir own country at any given time!!
The list is long, names are irrelevant, their deeds are important.

Pathetic

She was just trying please the Indians.

It's like when parents are going to the cenima however they tell their kids don't worry we are just going to a hospital appointment whilst granny looks a after you.

No other nation would write a story about this...

Fully agree. International relations are not about tit for tat. She should be received at the airport by her counterpart. She can call on SMQ. That alone will get the message across. A civil but appropriate reception for her. We want an equal and mutually beneficial trade based relationship with the US. Nothing more nothing less. We will cooperate on all matters which are mutually beneficial including aid to Afghanistan which we should coax them into helping and stabilizing.

Look at it this way: There is at least one critical area where there is a recognized commonality of national interests. That, by itself, is a good foundation, given that many kinds of policies and support can be implemented off of that alone. Pakistan, after all, has a long history of building itself up with very little. It will do so again, with this start, I am quite sure. It just has to play ball a little better than before, given that the world has changed since the last time mountains were moved after the initial offer of "peanuts".

Our mil estb cannot ever have enough. The only person she won’t meet would probably the PM, else the entire country is open.
It's very unbecoming of our security establishment. They might not notice it now, but this type of interaction (i.e., not deferring to the Gov't of Pakistan or perception of not carrying Pakistan's best interests) will erode the cohesion and competence of the military. The weirdest part is, why do they even publicize these meetings with the COAS? We're just screaming, "dysfunctional institutions, hybrid gov't." If you want to do shadowy shifty stuff, then do it in secret, don't tell the world.

Everything, I see one official who didn't bother meeting with this viceroy of the America and that man is a Pukhtoon, IK, just like that pukhtoon border guard who told his Irani counterpart "Iran mein ghoos kar maroon ga" versus the non-pukhtoon cajoling and pleading with the Iranis...

I see a non Pukhtoon laying down in prostration when told to sit after 9/11 and then I saw the pukhtoon taliban not giving in and are now vindicated after 20 years of struggle...

As long as Pakistan's reigns are under non-pukhtoons we will be led by sheep..

The only non-pukhtoon to have led Pakistan with dignity and pride was Zia ul Haq but he is universally derided by most Pakistanis

Lol..You did not win. America just disengaged. Big difference. If America really wanted to win , they would have nuked your people , just like Japs. You can thank liberal benevolent policies of US that saved your nation from complete doom. If US was a savage and actually wanted to annihilate , your cousins in Afghanistan would have all been dead.

And how many soldiers did America lose compared to Afghans... The ratio is outrageous.... Afghanistan is a shit hole while every one of you is trying to get to the US. We all saw how your Pakhtoon brothers were hanging from the tires of American cargo planes.... Where was the pride then....

She was reading a script on a Teleprompter like the US leaders do often talking about issues or nations they barely know. However, the message was powerful yet without the honesty behind it it seems. But the fact remains, the US is providing vaccination, and all human support in all crises when Pakistan is in one. Similarly, it's also a fact that the US is the LARGEST trade partner of Pakistan and this fact alone can't be considered lightly. The US allowed Pakistani products access to it's markets. Pakistan needs an active foreign policy to do damage control and better the relations. Polished civilians in ties and blue suits please!! Ex-generals, etc, no matter how educated and sharp, can't and haven't been able to cut it. Civilians in dark blue suits and red ties!!

They may have left Afghanistan, but have a look around and they are everywhere; Middle East, south east asia etc...

USA has only one interest, and that is to retain their dominance and ensure Dollar remains the world's reserve currency.

They will not accept any threat or challenge, present or future to that position.

Remainder of white race, gets acceptance and spoils as a consequence of accepting that position.

What should be alarming is that Pakistan and India are opposing sides of this cold war; and are armed with nuclear weapons.
US has lost in middle east too. They are slowly rolling back their military role from the gulf too. China has now become am emerging economic superpower having the most important and strong supply chain globally and a massive population and one of the biggest market and as well as the biggest manufacturing hub in the world.

China is the biggest client of hydrocarbons nowadays. They are the biggest automotive market for Japanese, European as well as some US companies as well.

The only reason why US Dollar haven't already collapsed yet is the economies of the 2 superpowers are extensively integrated into each other and China doesn't see any advantage in pulling down the US Dollar. But it may change on foreseeable future when most of the BRI projects reach their maturity and the markets of the nearby Asian and African developing economies reach to a certain extent that US and EU markets become completely redundant for the Chinese industry.

US is rapidly loosing the game of influence and economy against China and has gotten desperate in recent years to maintain the present state. China on the other hand doesnt have to take any drastic steps to prevail in the end, all they need is to hold the line long enough that US and it's allies are consumed within their own desperation of influence.

The truth is, today no one likes the US or considers it as a worthy ally but rather they only see US as money printing press and a good weapons dealer. Not a single country in South East Asia has faith in US commitments to them. South Koreans openly acknowledge those insecurities too. Taiwan is a lost cause, Japanese only interested in US military tech and selling their products in US. Philippines, Indonesia and New Zealand can't afford to anger China so is the case with Australia who has recently started to feel the effects of Chinese anger.
Apart from the colonial cousins namely the five eyes no one is really interested in US affairs anymore. The only non-English non-caucasian person who fancies to be a strategic partner to dying US Superpower is the "Modi jee"

Typical mindset instead of realizing the gravity of the situation. Such harsh statements are a precursor to sanctions, etc. I won't be surprised if she's coming here to only let the Pakistani leadership know that sanctions are coming.

There will never be a "Russia-China" block. Russia is building direct oil and gas pipelines to provide oil and gas to Europe directly worth many billions a year. Just one example, something they never did before. Additionally, they are about to start supplying Europe with access to their space and other infrastructure too. This would boost up the Russian economy. They can't tick off the US to jeopardize their economic growth.

For US, I've said it many times and got laughed at. Pakistan is history and QUAD / India takes precedence over all nations the US is connected to, outside of NATO. I'd say India to US is more important than many NATO countries. The Russians offered the US bases just recently so it's very obvious that the Russians are going in for economic benefits. They will do exercises with China but won't be a part of a "block". Nor the Chinese will fight the US.

Pakistan needs to wake up and work hard to achieve their foreign policy objectives and to grow trade. Time for military to military relationships is over.
Neither Russia, Nor the Russian influenced central Asian states are interested in giving US any military bases. Russian trade with EU is as vital for EU as its to Russia. China and US have officially been involved in Cold War 2.0 but still the biggest trade partners in the world. Gone are the days of trade bans on rival powers, the global economy is thoroughly interconnected and no one afford to loose trade deals with any country.

Quad is the hoax created to drag India as a pawn against China in US cold War 2.0. The real alliance is AUKUS in the east or you may say the five eyes nexus globally.

NATO in reality hasn't been really tested since its inception. It nonetheless acted as merely a deterrent against Soviet invasion back then. The real nature of Europeans for centuries, the past colonial powers and their descendants in US etc. Has been of deception, hunger of power and greed.

NATO is already tearing apart by sorts of Brexit, AUKUS being parallel to NATO, French trying to make their own circle of alliance, the Turkey-Greece conflict and the personal interests of every country combined makes NATO merely more than a group of thugs united on an agenda to plunder and ruin the world as long as its profitable for them to do so.

These are modern day crusades with just change of uniforms, designations and political setup. They plundered and massacred everywhere, even looted their own tax payer citizens to line up the pockets of modern day Church(Defense contractors) and kings(Politicians and establishment). And history tells none of the Crusades were successful or created any better impact in the longer run for both the fighting sides.

As far as Pakistan is concerned, IMF or economy isn't the core issue for our civil and military establishment. Yes it's a concern obviously they would have to cut down their massive corruption and money laundering to minimal levels to make Pakistan economically viable without meager IMF inputs. Perhaps they would try to broker a similar deal with China or any other willing country with deep enough pockets to replace US backed monetary institutions in exchange of as always national sovereignty or a hired gun. IMF and economy is still a secondary issue for the Pakistani decision makers.

The real primary cause of concern for Pakistan decision makers is the aura of western culture in which all of us have been trapped for decades. 99. 9% of the people who can afford to retire abroad or setup their families and Homes tend to immigrate to the US or any of its western English speaking allies. From very beginning of their career, they start to park their legal/illegal savings in said countries and from teen age every Pakistani trains and dreams of being part of that western culture. The prevalent western civilization and culture upon is the major cause why our decision makers never dare to refuse in front of the west. In this department not even China, Arabs, Malaysia can replace US or EU. That's why even being trolled by west our decision makers still wanna stick to the western world no matter what. Because they don't have any choice besides that.

I don't know who talks or cares about Pakistan's national interest. Pakistan was created miraculously and its surviving miraculously since then. It's one of a kind on this planet.

Let's not be so hasty. Political relations are of such nature...today friends...tomorrow enemies...and so on.

I say no harm in keep trying to build a relationship...but more so on economic/trade terms...instead of being a lackey.
Indeed, Pakistan desperately wants a broad based relationship with the US, but there seems be little to no interest from the US side in either fostering a mini strategic relationship, nor any commercial relationship. US is only interested in using Pakistani air and land links to reach Afghanistan, free of cost and without any regard for the Pakistani national security redlines.
Unfortunately, there are still some quarters in the old establishment who yearn for a return to the bad old days of "do more" as long as they get handsomely compensated for their treachery.

“It’s for a very specific and narrow purpose, we don’t see ourselves building a broad relationship with Pakistan. And we have no interest in returning to the days of hyphenated India, Pakistan. That’s not where we are. That’s not where we’re going to be,” she said while speaking at the Ananta Aspen Centre in Mumbai.

I guess the messaging from the other side is fairly clear.
US will regret one day Mark my words they are strangers in region anyway

Specifics vs Pacific lol

India has a role to play for the US in the Pacific Ocean where the Indian navy is being counted to check China. But India is too spineless to counter China, a country of similar size but in a vastly different league economically & technologically. It’s only interested in pursing it’s agenda against Pakistan while America underwrites its belligerence.

The US is counting on India to contain China, a rising superpower. In a way, the US expects India to play the role Pakistan played during the Cold War, but in a more prominent manner, given India’s big population matched by its oversized regional ambitions.

But Pakistani leadership continues to delude themselves and their people that the relationship with the US is about Afghanistan, when it isn’t. The US is adopting Indian disinformation materials as a foreign policy, simply to appease New Delhi, yet the Pakistani leadership lacks the courage to what it knows to be true.

To make things worse, the military leadership blatantly undermines and frankly disrespects the civilian administration led by Imran Khan by meeting non-military delegation, especially a delegation which few hours earlier humiliated and disrespected Pakistan by painting the country as a hired gun being engaged to run some American errands in Afghanistan. And the civilians are too weak to push back.

So the merry-go-round continues. Perhaps, the former Pakistani ambassador and a treasonous character Hussain Haqqani is correct when he labeled the Pakistan-US relations as a “magnificent delusion.”
