Muslim Hands, a UK based international NGO has launched a first-of-its-kind ambulance service for the residents of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
“The service which will also be available to the residents of adjoining areas of the two cities will provide round the clock pre-hospital emergency transportation care to the people,” Muslim Hands Pakistan Country Director Syed Ziaul Noor.
He said that the ambulance project was consisted of 20 well-equipped ambulances and was aimed at improving medical and healthcare services to the people in twin cities and adjoining areas.
The ambulances are part of an Ambulance Aid Convoy, namely “The Big Drive of UK to Pakistan” organised by Muslim Hands International with a specified goal to furnish rapid and quality health services in Rawalpindi and Islamabad region. The volunteers, who raised funds for this project accompanied the convoy.
“These decommissioned NHS ambulances have made the long voyage from the UK, travelling through France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Iran to reach its new destination of service in Pakistan,” Ziaul Noor said.
“Covering 6000km through eight different countries, this journey was not easy one, but worth the sacrifices and more importantly worth the number of lives the ambulances will save,” he added.
He said that through this project, Muslim Hands would provide services in emergency situations relating to accidents, cardiac arrest, pregnant women and neonates.
