Pakistan government today raised the country's defence budget by 11 per cent from Rs 776 billion to Rs 860 billion.

In his televised budget speech, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar provided details of various aspects of the 2016-17 budget, which he said was growth oriented.

"The defence budget will be increased by 11 per cent from Rs 776 billion to Rs 860 billion in the 2016-17 fiscal year," he said while presenting the annual budget in the parliament.

He announced to set the 5.7 per cent GDP growth against 4.7 per cent growth which was achieved in the outgoing year.

Dar said Rs 800 billion have been set aside in the development budget, which is Rs 100 billion higher than last year.

He said that 10,000 MW electricity will be added to the national grid by March 2018 and another 15,000 through major hydro-electric project after 2018.

.
after factoring in inflation the real increase turns out to be around 6% , is it enough ?

. .
Military demand was of 9.2 Billion $. (Total 18% increment)
COAS Raheel Sharif personally met with Ishaq Dar to tell him that 8.6 Billion $ is not enough for military in current situation where huge money is spending.
Apparently Ishaq Dar was willing to full fill this demand, but in the end........... it ended up according to will of Finance Ministry...........

.
military has to think smart and do cost cutting measures it self.
This can be done by increasing the time till retirement and decreasing the massive work force. lean and deadly is better than bulky and outdated
