LOS ANGELES: Pakistan-origin British boxer Amir Khan has defeated American Carlos Molina with a 10th-round retirement in their light-welterweight fight on Sunday here, Geo News reported.

With the win Khan claimed the WBC silver super lightweight title.

Khan, 26 kept his opponent under pressure from the very first round and knocked Carlos Molina out in the 10th round.

Prior to the match former World champion boxer Amir Khan and American boxer Carlos Molina appeared quite confident. But Khan had too much for the American to win and restring his confidence overpowered Carlos Molina.

It was the 27th and perhaps the most critical-victory of the Pak-origin Briton boxer career and opens up the possibility of rematch with Garcia.

Khan is now 27-3 with 18 early wins and two stoppage defeats, while Molina is 17-1 with one draw and one retirement.
