Pak Navy ships on goodwill-cum-training cruise to Japan
ISLAMABAD, Jun 12 (APP): Two Pakistan Navy ships along with 700 Pakistani soldiers sailed Tuesday into eastern Japanese port of Tokyo Harumi Pier on a four-day goodwill-cum-training cruise to Japan. The flotilla including PNS Moawin and PNS Babur led by Commodore M. Siddiq was greeted at the harbour by Pakistan's ambassador Kamran Niaz, Rear Admiral Isamu Ozawa, Tokyo Metropolitan's Representative Teruo Harashima and senior officials of the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force.
In his welcome address, Ambassador Kamran Niaz said the visit was aimed at deepening mutual understanding, boosting trust, promoting mutual exchange and strengthening friendship between the peoples and defence forces of Pakistan and Japan, says a message from Tokyo issued here.
A number of overseas Pakistanis in Japan also attended the ceremony with a performance of guard and band from the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force.
Pakistan Navy has maritime interaction with the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Forces in the North Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. The visit will culminate on joint exercise to promote bilateral and professional exchanges.
Both the naval vessels will be open for public on June 14.
