PIA has been suffering for a while...what is news is Air india
This is like losing both eyes for the enemies single eye.Indian losses will be humongous as compared to Pakistan's.
Pakistan can keep its airspace locked and watch India suffer from its own anger.
- India flies more flights over Pakistan than Pakistan does over India, and
- Popular flight destinations (Middle east, Europe, Americas) lie on Pakistan side and there are more Indians travelling through Pakistani airspace than Pakistani travellers travelling through Indian airspace to reach Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand etc.
Well they have already increased the ticket charges so they will somehow distribute the supposed loss to their customers.
Since most international travellers can afford this (even though unhappy) it won't have any huge impact as the media is trying to project. This is not just Air India but other carriers have also done the same.
Regarding the financial health of AI, they are the close cousin of PIA I guess. LOL
Yet the route for each of the airlines is the same - over Pakistan....
In India, plane tickets are getting cheaper than train higher class fairs. So wont impact much.
Especially from Delhi and some north India. International Airports.
Do you have any idea how may international airports are there in India especially in the southern states ?
Even my small state Kerala have 4 of them.
No buddy, international is a totally different story. Yes domestic rates are now dirt cheap.
It's ok. It's part of national defense. Who cares about a a couple of billion rupee when our national security is at stake. CAA wouldn't get broke if airspace doesn't open for another three months.Pak-India airspace closure: National institutions suffer Rs2.55b loss

KARACHI: Pakistan and India have closed their airspace for each other for the last two weeks after rise of tension between the two countries due to which the national institutons of Pakistan have suffered losses of Rs2.55 billion.
The airlines and civil aviation authorities of both the countries are enduring massive losses. The flights between Europe to Far-East are not only facing massive financial losses, but the flight duration has also increased, while the airlines have also increased their ticket prices. The schedule of the airlines flying on these routes has also been affected.
The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suffered loss of Rs1.05 billion due to closure of certain routes for the airline, while the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan has incurred a loss of around Rs1.5 billion so far due to prevailing tension.
Only few large airports are still open, while the airlines are now using long routes due to which the air travel duration has increased, which has resulted into increase in air fares. Only the PIA is suffering a loss of over 70 million on daily basis in the head of fuel charges.

As percentage of revenue PIA losses has been four times higher than Air India's.

It may be a piece of shit from the pro-Indian news paper, as there is no source given, and PIA doesn't fly that much over India, yes CAA do get payment fro Indian airliners when they use Pakistan's airspace...Pak-India airspace closure: National institutions suffer Rs2.55b loss
