Mandarin we could teach, there are more people who speak Chinese than speak English.

Nations mostly thrive in local language anyway. The french can't say Hello in English, the german's don't like English, The Russians, Japanese, Koreans and Chinese all thrived in their native languages

We should teach English.

Basic education(until 2-3rd grad) should be in mother tongue, urdu, punjabi, sindhi, whatever that is. Then the student should be taught English gradually. If something is taught in mother tongue, it forms a good basis.

Have you ever taken the TOEFL exam. I had to take it even though I went to English medium schools.

I don't think his post is offensive unless its meant to be sarcism? I have had friends from India who also shared similar opinion such as the city of Bangalore where people from whole India comes to live and work and need to communicate in English as Tamils may not understand Bengali and Malayalam may not understand Punjabi

the topic of national language in India is a little sensitive. In Pakistan urdu is your national language. English can be taught as 2nd language. the real issue is the quality of the education

very good decision it will help to flourish young minds in home country language more than of imported languages which are not good for young minds especially at kids level.

Changing syllabus of primary school kids from English to Urdu is understandable because kids need to learn mother tongue first... but we expect graduates to have basic skills in both native language and English.

This forum has many non-Pakistani guests who will not understand your native language so it is best to adopt common language but I do get your point and agree with it

No reason why English /Urdu can't be taught in school side by side each language as its beauti

During my childhood , during Zia's time they changed the education mode to Urdu for 1 year and then kids had tremendous time understanding the scientific terminology used in Urdu books vs english books (Thankfully that policy was changed after 1 year). But I saw many young kids fail due to sudden removal or english and then reintroduction

Nations who can't communicate in english they normally are not able to take advantage of global marketplace.

The political ellite always send their own kids overseas, becasue it gives them a tremendous , intellectual advantage being exposed to top Tier school system vs folks who are stuck discussing Ghalib's drunk poetry

People who study sciences in Urdu syllabus are not able to adapt to University educatin as the terminology and expression drastically changes when they reach Universities which are very English based resulting lot of drop outs and failiures

The problem worsens , as the folks lacking behind others , can't get to advance studies (research based Degrees etc)

Germany, South Korea, China, Japan, France, Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Finland,Spain, Italy.
nobody among them speak English then how can they become successful..

Pakistanis are slaves. Every country in Europe educates its people in its own language, from kindergarten to university. English is only taught as a foreign language.

Go to Japan and Korea, and the vast majority of even educated people can't speak English.

White people are proud of their language, black people worship English.

The darker skinned a people, the more important English becomes.

The two modern day success stories, Turkey and China, both educate their people in their own language. English is only taught as a foreign language.
