PAK-FA/T-50 flameout embarrasses Sukhoi

Well Su 27 have crashed in Air shows and so have MiG 29s, F 117 fell apart during a exhibition flight....this is nothing to be ashamed of. At least it did not happen on air and cause a huge accident.

It's another during public demonstration in an airshow. It shows the Russians were cutting corners under pressure to rush the project. It doesn't sound good for fighter development.

You are right, the project must reach a certain limit of success and should take its due process of completion or assurance that it does not cause serious problems, therefore not a good idea to bring in a project that is very far off from completion to be displayed and flown in a airshow to show the might. pafk-fa for now belongs in a sukhoi lab much work needs to be done before it comes out as a successful 4++ generation fighter.

^^^It is their Airshow and Su PAK FA/FGFA is their newest and most ambitious fighter aircraft program till date.Orders for over 500 aircrafts have been confirmed. So,it is fair that they showcase their success to the entire world!
BTW,these glitches are ever so normal with such projects...The air frame is also a testbed for the new Fifth Generation Engines specifically designed and produced for the program too:)

I hope such accidents don't happen when these babies are delivered to IAF or our pilots we do the same justice which they are doing with mig21 :D

ABi ISHAQ k imtehan aur b hain..................
i think they will solve this problem soon

Please correct the bolded part. You are diluting facts to support your ill intention to derail the thread.

digital engine control system malfunction and pumped more fuel into engine..

just that , nothing alse !!

Yaar yeh sab hote rehte hain. There will always be some trolls who like to fan out something.

PAK-FA is a failed project. They will have to use 4G fighter engines for now.

It's quite ironic

Then wat to you think of ppl in Pak will do, who call this thing as helicopter

NPO Saturn reveals cause of PAK-FA engine flame-out

A malfunction in the automatic flight control system was the cause of the Sukhoi PAK-FA's starboard engine flame-out at the MAKS Moscow air show, according to Russian engine maker NPO Saturn.

Speaking to the Russian media two days after the incident, NPO Saturn general director Ilya Fedorov acknowledged that the starboard engine "suffered [a] surge".

A bright flame was seen to erupt from the powerplant when the fighter was halfway through its take-off run at Ramenskoye airfield on 21 August. According to Fedorov, this was due to a malfunctioning sensor which began feeding "erroneous data" to the airplane's control system.
He thanked Sukhoi test pilot Sergei Bogdan for his prompt reaction to the engine malfunction. "It was a test for the new machine. During flight trials on any brand new aircraft - and this airplane is undergoing flight trials - malfunctions such as this one are not only possible, but even mandatory."

Fedorov said: "The motor did not fail - in fact, it was put by erroneous control input into a wrong mode that caused the surge. This is not an engine failure, but the wrong data input caused by a malfunctioning sensor feeding data to the flight control system.

"After what had happened the motor was checked [and] the malfunctioning sensor was replaced by a good one. Today, there is no issue with this engine."

this was just a prototype thank god it wasn't a production aircraft hopefully Sukhoi engineers can find out what went wrong and fix it
