Pak doesn't seem to learn any lesson: Manohar Parrikar

BENGALURU: As ceasefire violations by Pakistan continued unabated, defence minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said Islamabad does not seem to learn any lesson.

"Pakistan does not like to stay quiet even on New Year day. They started (cross-border) firing at 12.30 pm and don't seem to learn (any) lesson," Parrikar said at an event.

In an obvious reference to Pakistan and China, he also said, "We are surrounded in northern boundaries by two neighbours who are not very comfortable with us."

In fresh ceasefire violation, Pakistan Rangers today targeted 13 border outposts in Samba sector, a day after an Indian jawan and four Pakistani soldiers were killed in exchange of fire.

India said it will lodge a strong protest with Pakistan over the ceasefire violations, the third along the International Border in the past three days and seventh in last eight days.

Responding to Pakistan's ceasefire violations, Parrikar had said yesterday that the Indian security forces should not hold back in the face of firing and must retaliate with "double the force".

Parrikar who was here to attend a function also described Bengaluru as "the brain of India" in Space research. "We are thankful to Bangalore."

"Our culture.... our scientists take part in space missions but will not forget to offer pooja because this is our culture. We are proud of our culture. Our culture teaches us how to behave in the society. It teaches how to behave with elders."

Parrikar was speaking at an event organized by "Adamya Chetana", an NGO working in the field of social development managed by Union minister Ananth Kumar's wife Tejaswini.

What is your interest in carrying forward Indian cold-start doctrine?

The lessons to be 'learned' here by the Pakistani side are that:

1. The BSF will act in a completely cowardly manner and against international norms of armed conflict and engagement by calling 'Flag Meetings' and then ambushing the opposing side's soldiers deputed for said flag meeting.

Pakistan claims that the latest round of incidents began when Indian border guards killed two Chenab Rangers’ personnel in Shakargarh sector on Wednesday after calling them for a flag meeting on the Working Boundary.

Naik Riaz Shakir and Lance Naik Mohammad Safdar, who were deputed for the meeting sought by the BSF, died amid a hail of bullets, the Chenab Rangers said.

The Foreign Office summoned the Indian deputy high commissioner to lodge a protest over the incident.

A demarche given to the Indian diplomat asked New Delhi “to investigate the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure maintenance of peace and tranquility along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary”.

According to Chenab Rangers, the BSF firing on Wednesday morning was unprovoked. Flag meetings are routinely held by troops to settle local matters between the two sides.

2. The BSF has openly admitted its desire to commit 'War Crimes' given its recent statement that:

""If Pakistan rangers fire on us, we will also fire on them. If they suffer collateral damages (in our action), they (Pakistan) should be ready for that," Inspector General (IG) of BSF, Jammu Frontier, Rakesh Sharma told reporters here today. "

Whether Pakistan fires first or not, threatening the other side with 'collateral damage' indicates an intent to knowingly target non-military assets which would be considered a War Crime under international law.

The BSF has, in both of the above instances, openly declared a complete lack of respect for the international law of armed conflict, not really surprising I suppose, given the Indian Government's decades long policy of violating her international commitment to implement the UN Resolutions on Kashmir, commitments that India in fact further ratified under the Simla Agreement (see first para of agreement reiterating commitment of both India and Pakistan to the UN Charter, under which the UNSC Resolutions fall).

Yes thanks for the effort and preview.... but what is Pakistan army doing about it? I'm not sure if the poor souls had any protection waist, while going into the wolf's den.
If our political leadership is not willing to stand behind army, than army need to take matters in their own hands. Now or never!
Any further delay in deciding a befitting reply, will sink Pak army deep, in sand of shame.
Sorry....I'm extremely disappointed... and i can imagine the dent this incident have on the morale of our soldiers, are their lives so cheap ? Where is the fucking nation? Selfish... Imran Khan can rally for the reinstatement of Iftikhar Chaudary and can take bold steps to save democracy, but he always looked the other way, when it comes to army casualties.... take this bastard on remand, first.

BSF cowards... I have to say, good propoganda work by Indian media. Make it seems like India is not the aggressor.

Oh well. We can also say that Pakistani culture teaches Pakistanis not to defecate openly or rape openly like Indians are famous for.
Please delete post its in bad taste

I lolled

When you have such views on an event, what rational rebuttals are you expecting

Actually.. i kind a agree.
What BSF has done is water under the bridge, now response is awaited from Pakistan.. both, national and institutional.
If we see non, than i accept with shame that we are the coward ones and it has become our national policy and trait.
Words cannot change reality.... i.e. our ill equipped soldiers, are being put in harms way, just because they have no choice but to obey the orders.
I personally, not for a single moment in life, had any doubts about the Indian / Iranian / Afghan mentality and yet.... here we have the professionals.... looking like complete assholes.

I have the feeling, that our generals are watching too much bolywood masala and do not wish any harm to the entertainment industry!!!
