BEIJING, Oct 9 (APP): The Corporate leaders from Pakistan and China will work closely with each other to deepen economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Masood Khan made these remarks at a Business Luncheon hosted by him Thursday for top twelve Chinese corporations and enterprises engaged in engineering, construction, thermal and hydel power generation, coal mining, telecommunications, oil and gas projects in Pakistan.
Doing business with Pakistan was rewarding Chinese entrepreneurs active in Pakistan observed.
We want to build on our cumulative strengths and expand operations in Pakistan, they said. Ambassador Khan had organized get-together with Chinese corporate executives to get their professional inputs before President Asif Ali Zardaris visit to China next week.
President Zardari will be paying his first official bilateral visit abroad to China from 14 to 17 October.
Beijing is a destination of choice for President Zardari, said Ambassador Masood Khan, adding that Pakistan attaches highest importance to its strategic, economic and political relations with China.
Ambassador Khan told the Chinese corporate executives that Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had launched Pakistans economic diplomacy by addressing Chinese corporate entrepreneurs and executives last week.
He informed that Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao were keen to receive President Zardari. Elaborate preparations were being made by Chinese government to receive new democratically elected Pakistani President and hold comprehensive talks with him and his delegation.
Executives of China Mobile, the Chinese Telecommunications giant, expressed satisfaction over their business in Pakistan and said that they were planning to expand their investment.
Chinese enterprises also showed keen interest in investing in cement and steel industries of Pakistan.
Another important area of cooperation is banking sector, said Ambassador Khan, adding thatWe must expand cooperation in the sectors of finance and banking.
He pointed out that time was ripe for wider exposure of Chinese banks to the Pakistani market.
Initial signals for cooperation in banking sector were good, he said. The Business luncheon was attended by senior executives 0f China State Construction Engineering Corporation, China State Construction Engineering, China National Chemical Engineering Corporation, China Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation, China International Water & Electric Corporation, ZTE Corporation (ZTE) China Gezhouba Group Corporation, BGP Inc. China TEXMATECH Co. Ltd. (CTMTC), and China Harbour Engineering Corporation, Sino Hydro Corporation. Senior officials of the Embassy also attended the luncheon.
