SSW are trained as Forward Aerial Observer/Air Traffic Controller to guide air strikes inside enemy territory and direct aircrafts against enemy targets. Construct temporary airstrips for landing of transport aircrafts (C-130). Capture enemy FOB(Forward Operating Base), set it up for landing and direct friendly aircraft to land. Provide emergency Comm and Navigation for friendly aircrafts in blind areas.

Rest all other SF roles.

Wait what?! Constructing airstrips for C-130s? What does that involve? Just clearing an area - or is there a way to setup a makeshift runway?

Yes. Pretty much. But problem is we don't operate those models of C-130s that can land on make shift landing strips ... C-130J has this capabilities and IAF has them. We are using older versions.
