PAF Cadet To Join U.S. Air Force Academy

Islamabad: In a ceremony held Friday at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Michael LeFever, U.S. Defense Representative to Pakistan, presented Pakistan Air Force Cadet Mahhad Nayyer with an appointment letter to the U.S. Air Force Academy Class of 2014.

"Cadet Nayyer was one of only 19 international cadets worldwide selected to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy," said Vice Adm LeFever. "This is a truly impressive accomplishment and a testament to the caliber of the type of military officer the Pakistan Air Force produces", says a press release issued by the US embassy.

The mission of the U.S. Air Force Academy, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is to educate, train and inspire men and women to become officers of character, motivated to lead the Air Force in service to their nation. Cadet Nayyer will become one of more than 4,000 students who will receive an accredited Bachelor of Science degree after an intensive four-year curriculum of study.

Appointments to the U.S. Air Force Academy are one aspect of military training between the U.S. and Pakistan that helps promote understanding and enhances military-to-military relationships while also boosting capability and expertise of both nations. The U.S. has provided training for hundreds of Pakistani military officers in a wide range of leadership and development programs covering topics such as counterterrorism, intelligence, logistics, medical, flight safety, and military law.

It is not clear whether Mahhad would be a pilot or he would join some other branch (Engineering, Airdefence etc).

so it means that Mahhad is already undergoing training,he may be in the first term. He would wait for 4 years, then will go to Colorado, undergo training for another 3 years, and then will be commissioned in PAF. a path of 7 years to glorious officership.

Now we alraedy know that PAF pilots are going to USA, for different types of specialists training (F-16s, KingAir B350 EW, aerial refuelling). This is far good, as pilots serve short stints abroad, get 'to the point' training, and come back, in this case less indoctrination of mind, i will explain later.

Now consider a 22 year old going to Colorado, and will be trained for 3-4 years in USA environment. Off course he must be selected being the brightest among his class. it is expected that he may , once commissioned, will rise, if not to higher levels, may rise to mid levels of decision making(wing commander, Group captain). now having being 'brought up' in a purely USA fashion, is inclined to think like them, and take decisions biased to USA. may it be a weapon procurement (to include aircraft, radars, munitions) or selecting a country for training. My point is that as he and other officers (and that were the most genius) of their class, who have been 'Coloradoed' will definitely be USA biased. Their decision making ability is heavily influenced by, how they are trained in USA.

Pakistan Air Force cadet makes the nation proud

An aviation cadet Mahhad Nayyer of Pakistan Air Force Academy, Risalpur, makes the nation proud Friday when he became the one of the international cadets worldwide selected to attend the US Air Force Academy, says a press release.

Mahhad received an appointment to the US Air Force Academy class of 2014, during a presentation ceremony held at the US Embassy in Islamabad.

US Navy Vice Admiral Michael LeFever, US Defence representative to Pakistan, presented Aviation Cadet Nayyer with his appointment letter and congratulated him on his outstanding achievement.

While addressing at the ceremony Vice Admiral LeFever said, “Cadet Nayyer was one of the 19 international cadets worldwide selected to attend the US Air Force Academy,” “This is a truly impressive accomplishment and a testament to the calibre of the type of military officers the Pakistan Air Force produces.”
