I wonder if Pak pilots actually flew the SUs? Or was this just familiarization with the planes?

No. History proves mywise in this case. but anyway, those PLAN Su30MKMs are not coming to pakistani rescue. In any form. Rest Assured. Most that can happen is those pilots familiarize themselves with the sukhoi and go back home and help add into the Su-30 MKI doctrine PAF has.

Those Sukhois were in Pakistan for the joint PAF....PLAAF exercise called Shaheen.
These pictures were taken at Rafiqui airbase couple of years earlier while this year PLAAF participated with their J-10S. Here's an image of the participants in that exercise.
