maiden flight of the third IIyushin IL-78MP Midas aerial refueling tanker for the PAF took place in Ukraine on December 11, following completion of overhaul and conversion. the aircraft, R10-003 (c/n 0063466998, ex-UR-76675), will join R9-001 delivered in December 2009 and R10-002 delivered on October 29, 2010. a total of 4 are on firm order, the last of which will be UR-76682. an option is held on a fifth aircraft for which UR-76730 has been allocated.

So we have 3 in house right now awating upon the last one correct?

i watched the first of these aircraft ehich came for trial land in multan adn watchedthem the whole way at the airstrip!!

^ Bigger picture windjameer bhai jannn plz ... i want to see that Mirage 3dP dual seat version, it got FLIR aswell.i guess it is updated to Rose 3 slandered. plz scan the large version of the picture plz plz plz ... an also mention the mag

also the mag says "3rd and final IL78 to deliver to pakistan". where the fourth one go.

yup thats what i was thinking about too, i think its typo on the part of author or may be he got wrong info ,as far as i know four were on firm order and 5th one was on option ,whereas the airframe for the 5th one was selected

Why doesn't PAF transform the few boieng 707 's it has in to air tankers for the vipers?

Those were in service with PIA...when PAF got em they were too old structurally. Now why invest on them when they can get stuff from US EDA?
