ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday confirmed that concurrence of seven host governments has been received for the conduct of polling for overseas Pakistanis.

Foreign Office spokesman, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhary while responding to a question at the weekly news briefing here said the Election Commission had short-listed seven countries where polling could be held.

The spokesman said concurrence from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Australia, Canada and United Kingdom has been received while a response from the United States and the United Arab Emirates is awaited.

He said the matter of voting for overseas Pakistanis is under consideration in the Supreme Court and once a consensus decision is taken, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its concerned missions abroad would extend all possible facilities for the conduct of polling for them.

To another question he said Pakistan embassy in Baghdad has been issued instructions to extend due assistance to any Pakistani Zaireen stranded on Iraqi border due to elections in that country.

He said Zaireen should check with Iraqi embassy in Islamabad before leaving for Iraq.

Replying to another question the spokesman said there are no terror camps in Pakistan.

About trilateral meeting of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States in Brussels, he said it was in continuation of the high level contacts among the three countries.
