Overseas assets: Sale of PIA hotels likely to rake in $700 million

After 100% selling of shares why would government provide any funding to PIA as it will be fully privatized.
It does look like the government is stripping the PIA of its profitable and worthwhile assets first, so that investors (who included such assets in their calculations) will be left with only the garbage and liabilities.

and then 26% will be sold to Mansha group, yet liability will remain with the govt.

wase education bhi BC expense hai... kya khiyal hai privatize hi na ker dain?
Education expense nahi investment maani jaati hai Sir jee

Hum log financially itne strong nahi ke foreign countries main itni mehangi properties pe paise phansa dain. Jis zamane main PIA ne wo hotel purchase kiya thaa, PIA duniya ki best airlines main shamil thee... Aaj hum worst main shamil hain.. jab jaib main 10 crore hon to banda shopping center khareedne ka sochta hai, jab jaib khali ho to phir bande ki soch badal jaati hai. Selling Roosevelt Hotel is a pure business deal, we are not compromising our national assets on that. Far better than selling PIA

ap mashwaray do na nooray ko... apki uskay sath bohat achi banay gi..

They are not privatizing the whole thing. Only 26% shares.

firstly the hotels are not in losses...

start with depoliticizing the institution, take it from PM's discretion, make it an independent corporation through amendment in its charter. PIA has monopoly on many routes, it can recover faster by efficient management than by selling out assets and getting easy money.. and this again will not solve the issue of bad management, which is causing PIA the losses..

further I already said to lease the hotels, they will raise same amount of money and we will still be retaining the asset, rather than to sell it off foolishly.

Nothing is going to happen overnight. Things are changing step by step.

First, they announced employees will no longer get benefits like free tickets etc,.
Second, they cancelled routes which were causing loss
Third, they prioritized the value of Hajj travel. As a result during this year, they gained considerable revenue
Fourth, they fired 300+ people on grounds of fake degrees.
Fifth, they placed orders for 20 new aircraft on lease which will help cut down fuel and maintenance expenses.

* Read yesterday's paper. PIA has gained revenue.

Privatizing 26% shares is a major step towards depoliticizing.

Like Aether said, selling overseas asset shares is exactly what British Airlines did. Hotel is not prime business of airlines.

and then 26% will be sold to Mansha group, yet liability will remain with the govt.

He has changed his mind. Not showing interest anymore.

I am selling NS..the tind goes separately from the rest of him...so... whose bidding?! :pop:

Well PIA is sick , and quite sick / ill organization now sadly and only cure is Forign investors that can invest 3-5 Billion and get in 30 new planes fast

What I don't understand is why is Government interested to buy the planes for the forigne investors , like they will buy all the planes and this "new" guy would come take over after

Is the point of sell of that the new person assumes the debt / purchase of new planes deal ?

when did I say it will happen over night?

privatizing and selling assets are not going to help strengthen State of Pakistan as it will loose its potential earning asset to blood suckers. I dont understand why this point doesnot get across your thick heads, when you guys are in favor of democracy too.

and British Airline or any other for that matter, selling assets like hotels or any other earning hands is not wise, BC keh tou raha hon lease ker do, mulk ka nuksan zaror kerna hai asset bech ker?

PIA is being mismanaged. All the pakistanis prefer PIA over other airlines hence there is a huge customer base which is a problem with even with the most successful airlines these days. It is significantly cheaper as well compared to foreign airlines.

They are not privatizing the whole thing. Only 26% shares.

.

Well i guess that should be enough to cover their recent purchases.
