Over 30 robot factories under construction in China
2014-10-27

China is now the world's largest industrial robot market with over 30 robot factories under construction, authorities said.

Qu Daokui, deputy director of the State Engineering Research Center for Robotics, said during a forum in Shanghai on Sunday that robotics and the Internet will transform global manufacturing, and China is entering a golden decade for the development of domestically produced robots.

Before 2008, there was no robot industry in China, he said. However, with the disappearance of the demographic dividend and a growing labor shortage, the country became the world's largest industrial robot market in 2013, he said.

In the past ten years, the cost of robot production has decreased by 5 percent annually, while the labor cost has been growing by 10 percent year on year, according to Qu.

"Though large in quantity, China has a low robot density with 23 units for every 10,000 workers, compared to the world average of 58 units," he said. "Only a quarter of the robots in the Chinese market are domestically made and the three core parts and components of domestic robots have long relied on imports."

However, domestic robots have developed at a rapid speed. There were about 420 robot enterprises in China as of September and more than 30 factories under construction, Qu said.

Robotics will promote the transformation and upgrading of China's work force, and companies will face new challenges such as employing and training staff and transforming production technology and management, he added.

China's manufacturing base (the largest in the world) still has a lot of room to grow. Using industrial robotics will be a fantastic way to capitalize on the national infrastructure and supply chains we have built up over the decades.

Domestic robots is the next technology frontier after smart phones. Especially in China the population ages and labor cost going higher every year.

give some to pakistan wtf guys come one =[
Always asking (begging). Never read a news where in you guys are giving back to the world which is useful to the mankind. What have you ever given to China in return of their all weather friendship?

Yes, we need more automation factories but we still need to change those workers to technicians for the update of industry structure and the labor structure. The deployement of robots will improve qualities of products.

Keep up with the development news, bro. You can get what you need in China, our people are very willing to do so.

Why should i have hatred towards a country which gives a dose of laughter every day to me like some Indian news channels.

BTW, you have not told me what has Pakistan given to the world?

China already made the most of our demographic dividend for mass manufacturing.

Now some of the low-end manufacturing is moving to places like Southeast Asia.

(Whereas India is still too inefficient in terms of infrastructure and supply chains. They won't get much, they are several decades too late in trying to create a national manufacturing base.)

With increasing efficiency of industrial robotics, we can further improve our manufacturing competitiveness. Meaning we can keep the advantage for a lot longer than people expected.

Especially considering how much capital we can invest in industrial robotics (more than anyone else). And our infrastructure and supply chains are already in place.

Hey, you should get to the corner of street to chill out and wait unbiased opinion comes back.

No India related things intrusion please.

This thread has nothing to do with India!

lol...you should read the comment first. That was a sarcastic comment on Indian news channels comparing them with Pakistan. Nothing related to India. I dont like to divert topic either.

Chinese have a labor shortage :o: what's going to happen when a hundred thousand coal miners in China get laid off and can't find a job because of robots??? will we see a war against the machines??:butcher:

This year so far China has created over 10 million new jobs. There is always something to do for those who are willing to grab the opportunity. Thanks for your concern, though.
