Osama was hiding in Pakistan , so what !!

Was the intelligence input all about a possible Bin laden hide out?
Read the posts please.

If you cannot be bothered with reading the arguments made and just spouting off half informed nonsense, then why should others have to spoon feed you?

The intelligence provided by Pakistan was related to the courier who led the CIA to OBL - Pakistan did not know that the individual would end up being who he was, nor does Pakistan have the ability of the NSA or CIA to monitor electronic communications.

The point is that the US effort developed the lead after Pakistan provided the basic intelligence and pinpointed this individual. The US then chose to betray Pakistan and deceive it by lying about the intelligence developed from that lead, and conduct a unilateral surveillance of the compound and carry out a unilateral raid. However, without the initial lead to the individual, provided by Pakistan, the US would not have had any intelligence to 'develop'.

Pakistan cooperated, the US did not.

Only if the US had not lied to Pakistan and deceived it about the additional intelligence they were able to develop from monitoring the individual Pakistan pointed to could Pakistan have followed up by sending agents or cops to investigate the compound.

US failures cannot be blamed on Pakistan. US and NATO have done bombings, carpet bombing, stealth bombing, chopper strikes but failed to win the support of the local Afghans. Bombs will not get any country any where, in the end, a diplomatic and political solution has to be implemented to resolve lingering issues.

Bin Ladin lived next to a senior Pakistani army officer did he not think who his neighbour was in the compound with the barbed wire?

I would be happy if congress denies any financial aid to Pakistan.. rather i would suggest them to have some balls to do it..

as Russel Peters (NRI) would say.. be a man.. do the right thing..

My request to US as a Pakistani, Please pass the resolution of not giving any aid to Pakistan, please cut all ties with Pakistan, We would love US if US Govt. took this step.. At least these SOBs sitting in Presidency and PM house along with FO @$$hole will not try to scare us anymore..

Go US.. do the right thing.. Cut all ties with Pakistan, No Aid, No Friendship, No ties.. Period!!

You think the US wouldn't have killed OBL in Pakistan if they were not friends with you or they didn't give you aid? The same would have happened, without the aid.

They would never had dared to.. Iran, N. Korea, China are but few examples of that.. IF even now Pakistan's political govt. gets a spine and stands on their own two feet, America would not act even once without their consent.. Wanna bet?

Put it in context.

It would be like Hitler hiding out a less then a mile away from West Point

Osama bin Laden dead: bin Laden lived next door to senior Pakistan Army major - Telegraph

It was reported in a few newspapers that he lived nxt to a army major

One of the houses by him belonged to an Army major.

But again, Defence Sec. Gates indicated in an interview this weekend that he was not at all confident that OBL was in that compound - despite months of electronic and human surveillance. None of OBL's neighbors have reported seeing him or any major suspicious activity at the compound.

So how on earth can one expect the local cops or ISI to 'magically' become suspicious of this particular compound?

I don't think ISI could be blamed for being involved. It is a psychological factor that when you search for a hidden personality you search for him everywhere except your own house. And that is what ISI did and accepted its failure.

The Bali bomber who was caught in and around Abbottabad knew the location of Bin Ladin, it must have been known in certain jihadi circles that he lived there. I still do not believe nobody knew as the compound was unusual to say the least being the tallest in the area with huge walls and no internet or phone connection that in itself is suspicious. Also what about neighbors reporting peope woud enter and leave the compound in suv car's and the kid's who lost their cricket ball in the compound having to wait ages before anyone would answer the door only to be told their ball was lost and were given 50 Rupee for 1 cricket ball that in itself is strange.

It is a sad state of affairs when contributors to this professional site makes excuses for the fact that Osama bin Laden had been kept safely, protected, by the ISI in Abottabad...a city where a scant 8 years or less ago the violent Taliban tried to assassinate then Pakistan President Musharraf.

Ironically all other major captured by Pakistan, I presume by the ISI, lesser level al Qaida and radical Taliban personalities have likewise been captured inside Pakistan.

Pakistan has found a reputation as a haven for al Qaida and radical Taliban, while the people of Pakistan are being blown up right and left by these murdering thugs hiding in the disguise of religion.
