Just as the Spanish flu in 1918 to 1920 originated the US before spreading to Europe with the entry of the US in WW1, it is very likely COVID-19 started off in the US before spreading to China and other parts of the world. China is the first country that recognized it as a new strain, but it is likely it had spread quite a lot over many months or even years in the US and nobody knew about it thinking the symptoms are nothing but common cold. If it started off in China, it would have spread beyond Wuhan very quickly before declaring it a new strain. The fact that it is spreading the fastest in the US suggests this is because of testing people and recognizing it as a new strain. Your thoughts?
