Open to helping India in production of Tejas aircraft: Lockheed

. . . . .
I have always wondered what happens if the pilot is in the middle of a longer flight and he has to tend to nature's call. Is there a urinal facility or mechanism in the aircraft? Does Tejas have it?

How exactly will they help ? @Nilgiri @hellfire

They obviously have significantly more experience, but entering the program now is too late.

HAL has set up 2 lines in Bangalore, 8/year and 3/year, and want to set up a third line in Nashik, 8/year. CCS approval for the third line has already been given.

Once done, the 8/year line can be further expanded to 12/year. Of course, the Nashik line can become even bigger if necessary, but the Bangalore line has real estate problems.

70% of the production will be outsourced to the private industry.

So there's nothing LM can do that HAL hasn't already done.

But where LM can help in the future is with AMCA production, which will happen in Coimbatore. But they have to win MMRCA 2.0 for that. They can help out with UAVs and UCAV development as well. So they do have other options to exercise.

LM is offering to set up a production unit for Tejas. The benefits are

  • Getting manufacturing technology
  • Improved Quality control
  • Efficiencies through improved manufacturing processes
India should seriously consider this offer.

@randomradio

Our production techniques being used in the LCA program is at Western standards already. It's too late here.

Most the world has already helped.

Wish they did, but they didn't.
