It was there only in some specific Jain majority areas, it was not a blanket ban everywhere. Govt. needs to apply some logic before taking such decisions. India is a multi-cultural multi-religion country, you cannot force all the people to follow every community's practices in the name of respect. Just let everyone follow their own beliefs and practices without imposing it on others, people need to keep their religion to themselves.
