You had problems before but not to this extent. One incident? After the Dhaka attack 4 more died on Eid prayer offerings. Thats minus the 50 plus hacking to death of foreigners , minorities and bloggers.

Turkey is already feeling the affects of terrorism. Its tourism industry which is very vital for its economy is already reeling and costing them billions of dollars

50 death in a span of 3 years is not big terrorism.But they got highlighted because it was unusual for BD.Awami league govt. tried to use those low intensity incidence to paint the opposition in negative color rather than pursuing the culprit. Hence terrorism managed to grow that far.But I think they are realizing the danger now and trying to act accordingly.

BD while having late independance has advantages over both India and Pakistan . Unlike both countries BD is a homogenious society , no external threat , less defence spending and spends less time in interfering in others affairs. Despite all this Both India and PK are richer and are not in the list of Least developed countries while Bangladesh is there along with alot of african countries. So i wouldn't be too confident about 2030 thing.

Early head start is a big factor of the economic position of the countries of the world today.Pakistan got its economic kick start in 1950s by the money of both wings and its infrastructure were largely intact in 1971.After independence BD got empty treasury, ruined industry and infrasructure and Pakistani educated generals who were to fond of doing military coup Pakistani style in Bangladesh which costed us first 20 years of independence.So Pakistan started in 1950 and Bangladesh 1990.40 years head start is not a small thing.

But looking at historical perception of both countries, Myanmar should have a much larger and complex economic and industrial progress compared to Bangladesh as they got their independent far long before BD, better education infrastructure, better irigation and farms structures and had chance to build their economy, But instead Myanmar chose isolationist policy and ruined their economic progress for more than 4 decades. Meanwhile at the same time, Countries with a much lower economic base like Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia had catching them up and become industrial center in the region.

I would rather bet on Thailand than Myanmar to become an industrialized developed country in my life time.Thailand have much better national cohesion and solidarity than Myanmar.What you are seeing is the late untapped natural resources extraction frenzy by the international company.But it is bound to slow down when all resources are fully tapped.And Myanmar's oil/gas deposits are not that impressive (Slightly more than Bangladesh) if you compared it to the middle-eastern countries or Russia/Venezuela.It is simply much more difficult when you have dissatisfied minority population having majority status in half of your country.

lol.. even BD , which is said to have better economy than Myanmar , is far way to catch Thailand's in evey sector.. so i also would rather bet on Thailand in case of BD..

campared to middle east..!? it's silly to campare in oil sector to them.. even BD exploring in its whole land cant compete its monthly production..

Myanmar already started reduction its relying on Natural Resource.. just around 35% of 9.4B fdi went to oil and gas sector in last year.. the most of rest pouring to manufacturing and infrasturcture.. so we can switch from natural resource to manufacturing as economy driving force in coming 3 of 4 years.. so dont worry..

it's already negotiated with our minority brothers.. half of them signed to go to political dialouge instead battling against each other.. it's very near to got peace.. u should care ur own problems which recent happened in ur country..

Sole FDI can take u to higher middle income country quick and then it fumbles.

South Korea/China prime example who could utilize FDI along with strong domestic investment whereas Thiland and Vietnam failed to maintain momentum by relying too much on FDI.

actually our GDP per capita is not much different with urs.. it showed our annual income is not huge gap between us..GDP is calculated based on population.. the more people u have , the higher number u got.. why so serious..!? GDP of
sri lanka is just USD $80B.. almost 3 time lesser than u.. it mean BD is 3 time richer than sri lanka..? nope.. their annual income is almost twice of what BD got..

Do not beat about the bush when it is BD economy and its military strength. Our economy is overwhelming and this is the main reason that some near or distant power has tried to undo our good relationship with developed foreign countries like Italy and Japan.

I am surprised to see someone from Burma is telling a $74 billion GDP when my data says it was $64 billion last year. Can you raise it by 10 billion US in one year? What is the percentage increase, can you guys calculate? It is more than 11.5% increase!!!

Seems Burma is a super country when its road is so----o bad in Rangoon that the news report made me very angry at the politicians in Burma for their ineptitude. Here the sons of Burma are loudly proclaiming a meaningless 74 billion USD GDP!! These are the real hypocrites!!!

Of course we also want FDI because it is used in diverse fields, higher technology for which is brought in by the investors themselves. We certainly lack technology. But, Burma lacks fund, it hardly can get its investment capital out of a small GDP that can save only a little.

When growth is running at 8/9 % and accounting for foreign exchange fluctuations, a 12% change in $ terms is very achievable. Because that's how maths works. And Myanmar does not lack funds. We do lack a good savings ratio but that's more to do with Burmese mistrust of banks. When the financial system is overhauled in trust in banks increases then the savings rate should be very healthy. So no, comparatively we don't lack funds, technology nor foreign expertise.

Burmese didn't build fishing boat for navy.. we built just corvettes and frigates with some stealthly feature.. our first frigates was built in 2008 while BD was lacking in capacity to build even small FAC.. even now u have an ability to build a frigate . after we built it 8 year ago..? :/

Well, we'll just have to get more tanks.
