Open discussion about economy of Northeast China

I agree that ,Guangdong now lead the reforming of all country now like it used to be.I think more enterprise like tecent and Huawei will appear soon. When I shopping online in tianmao, the most of the products come from Guangdong.
Shenzhen is the heaven of start-ups, the real powerhouse of high-tech.

.
but i am unaware that most of GD industries are foreign owned, or is @FairAndUnbiased incorrect with this?
It doesnt matter, nowaday the company belong to the globalization era,the company it is not just belong to one country but The capital structure may be concluded by a lot of different countrys as well.

Some of China's most famous IT giants are in Shenzhen, Tencent, Huawei, etc.
Shenzhen has one of the cleanest air among giant megacities since there is little heavy industry, she is born for high-tech and innovation.

it does matter. i've been working in US controlled subsidiaries in Canada. When there is downsizing, restructuring, Canadians get laid off, not Americans. Foreign ownership is crap for domestic workers

Looks like Shenzhen will be a gleam nascent star again, after President Xi settled the 前海区 This high tech industrial district, a silicon in South China

Shenzhen is crazy, the gap of GDP per capita and living standards of Shenzhen and HK is becoming smaller and smaller.

I think that Guangdong will fall behind Jiangsu as the economy shifts from production of goods to the production of services. Other than electronics companies, alot of Guangdong is foreign owned, there's not many good universities (Hong Kong graduates rarely work in Guangdong so they can't count) and most of its talent is imported. If economic conditions worsen, the talent can go elsewhere. Jiangsu is different in that it has alot of domestic talent, strong universities, and proximity to Shanghai which can supply graduates to Jiangsu.

In the future, bet on Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Wuhan and Dalian, especially Wuhan. Those are the sources of growth for the future: strong universities, service industry, semiconductors, logistics, physical space for growth and large young populations.
Hubei's economy of first six months is really good. GDP of high-tech sector is growing crazily!

That is true. I find Shenzhen better because there are more variety of high paying jobs available. In HK it's mostly sales and financial services jobs.

China approves five-year plan to revive northeast
Xinhua, November 8, 2016

China's State Council has approved the plan to revive the country's northeastern region during 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020) in the latest effort to assist the area's sagging economy.

The plan called for more focus on quality growth and supply-side structural reform to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

The northeast should take coordinated efforts to improve the region's economic structure and enhance its competitiveness, according to the plan.

The State Council asked authorities in the provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, as well as Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to realize the urgency of the mission and make solid efforts to achieve the goals of the revival plan.

Amid China's economic slowdown in the last two years, the northeast, an old industrial base, has faced more difficulties than the rest of the country. The region relies largely on heavy and chemical industries, energy resources, raw materials and a large number of state-owned enterprises.

According to data from the National Development and Reform Commission, the region's economy grew 2.2 percent in the first half of 2016, much lower than the 7.6 percent, 7.8 percent and 8 percent for the eastern, central and western regions of the country, respectively.

To truly rejuvenate the Northeast, the coast must be recovered- or at least a a portion of it that's enough to build a couple of major commercial ports.

Such as the coast where today's Posyet and Zarubino stands.

WIthout a 'Chuhaikou' of her own- the Northeast is perpetually strangled. The country should place this factor in improving the region's economy as a high priority.
