Only PM can rein in 'disastrous' population growth, says CJP at symposium

Paid heed doesnt really mean no work was done just means no proper attention  Coz had anyone paid heed, there would have been some national plan running by now, no?

As I said before, there have been many national plans in the preceding decades.

Hmmm...prob need to see where the plans led to? Budget for the plans never prob made it to implement them!

Many were funded by international agencies, and even had limited success for a time. But, the Pakistanis remain very - what's the right word? - active.

Success can only come by educating them and getting the public to understand the disadvantages of large population/ family

Of course. But, as past experience shows, this is easier said than done.

The role of religious beliefs is undeniable here, in my view, not that I am discussing anything religious in violation of PDF rules.

My yearly Encyclopedia Britannica World Books tell an interesting story of Pakistan's efforts at population control. In the late 1960s it was accepted by Pakistan's government that family planning was important and did not violate religious principles. By the mid-1970s, however, this position was reversed, in part due to the influence of Arab oil money upon Pakistan's schools and mosques but also, I think, due to the shock of the 1971 war: a smaller subject population meant less power for Pakistan's leadership and Bhutto wanted to reverse that.

Geez, what a misleading headline! What is IK supposed to do, invade everyone's bedrooms? And Dawn wants to convince its readers that's what the CJP advocated?

It had to be released in 2017, but indonesia couldn't handle the pressure of big pharma..
