Online voting for millions of overseas Pakistanis doable: NADRA

ISLAMABAD: National Database and Registration Authority(NADRA) on Tuesday informed the Sub-Committee of Electoral Reforms Committee that online voting by 8 million overseas Pakistanis was possible and doable.

The Committee met under the Chair of Zahid Hamid at Parliament House with MNAs and officials of NADRA and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in attendance.

Briefing media about the outcome of the meeting, Zahid Hamid said first overseas Pakistanis would be registered with NADRA and then their biometric impression would be recorded.

The expatriates would then be issued a secret code, after which, they would be able to cast their votes through their registered mobile number using the given code, he said.

The electoral body also agreed to hand over the registration and election process for overseas Pakistanis to NADRA, he added.

NADRA officials told the committee that they had the capacity to register 140,000 overseas Pakistanis, Zahid Hamid informed.

He said the committee had also asked the NADRA officials to provide details of the registration process within two weeks.- APP

Apparently they never use old passport cover with new one. Plus they wud ask U to remove glasses before pic if U are very one. The passports seem photo shopped as they can not use any of such things of anyone like that.

Would anybody care to explain, How can millions of overseas Pakistani be adjusted in 0.14 Million Capacity ?

I am excited by the prospect of voting rights for overseas Pakistanis. Overseas Pakistani's contribution is a big chunk of the country's GDP, so they deserve the right to have a say in who they want to lead the country.
