Each and every democracy on earth does that. Or do you think that emergency powers, contingency laws, martial laws, courts interfering into the legislative process, things like the PATRIOT act or the AFSPA (in an Indian context) are not un-democratic?

Yes, I totally agree that education is a main weapon against extremism of all kind... but unfortunately its kinda delusional to believe that all people will be smart one day ;)
Just because they do it doesn't make it right. That is why we are democracy and not religion/communism/dictatorship. We must constantly reassess our situation, values etc based on evidence, and change system, constitution, laws etc.. We have seen bans won't work w/o change in people's heart and bans stop any work towards the latter. And no, not all people will be smart, but majority can become "knowledgeable" and it is the duty of people who call themselves "smart" to make them knowledgeable, not by force though.... I hardly find any such people in India...

Just to be accurate, he is NOT the only Pakistani terrorist. He is just the latest among a 'disproportionately' high number of terrorists for Pakistan's population.

at least they dont become Prime Ministers.....unlike your side of the fence

American media is trying to hide it's homegrown terrorism by blaming it on a country where the suspect never lived.

he did live in Pakistan but was not indoctrinated or misguided in Pakistan....he lived a privileged life, went to a prestigious school and was popular.....

financial troubles in US and work/stress probably did him in.....still not an excuse, though those scum bags holding the event are not an iota better than he is.

. .
On this side of the fence, one's responsible for a few thousand deaths become prime ministers, whereas on your side, one's responsible for a few million deaths... become Qaid-e-Azam.

if you go by bharti logic - sure. Quaid e Azam led the Muslim league before and leading to Pakistan's independence.

More than half of those million deaths were Muslims killed by YOUR people

. .
How does one belong to Pakistan if they were born in the US?

they have to be misguided or bad people......if they are famous boxers, multi millionaire bankers or sports team owners of Pakistani descent then the indian guests here will try hook line and sinker to claim they arent.

always get a good chuckle from the neighbours

The amount of motivation, power and control over all the central investigating agencies his political opponents had against Modi for 10 years that he could well have been on trial in Pakistan! Still he came out clean, exonerated by the highest court of India of ALL CHARGES. It is a different matter if you continue to bury your head in sand and pretend not to know about it.

If you have any hard evidence against Modi, come out with it - last I head, the Islamists and Congress Party of India was looking desperately for anything incriminating against Modi. If not, move on!

Which were the direct result of his actions..those millions didn't have to die if not for the cycle of violence started by Muslims League's 'Direct action day'.

And they want another religion-based partition in Kashmir which if permitted, will absolutely dwarf the bloodletting that happened in 1947!

I sincerely believe that the whole humanity has a big stake in ensuring that Kashmir isn't given back to these Islamists which will only embolden them for further such partitions elsewhere!

You just can't keep giving space to these mad Islamists. Here's Christopher Hitchens on the dangers of giving space to these Islamists!

It must be probed what he learnt in mosques of pakistan
Id be more worried about the mosques here, I've experienced sectarian ideals in mosques here and the smaller mosques Im not sure if the FBI is really monitoring or not. Its a dangerous precedent and there needs to be both increased cooperation between law enforcement and the community along with increased surveillance.

Ahhh...There it is...So it begins...:enjoy:
Maybe his dad did not co-sign off on a new Merc and he decided to shoot it out.. many of these terrorist types have daddy issues.

That does not matter. People with similar opinions and beliefs also form parties.
Am I now not allowed to criticize them as well?
And again, attacking a set of beliefs (here: Islam) is NOT racism (Obviously) and therefore, cannot be compared to things like the KKK which does not criticize any ideas, morals or whatever but hates blacks for being black and follows their pseudo scientific BS "race theories".

The fact remains: You cannot forbid people to do XYZ because your religious beliefs forbid it or because its written in some ancient books. Those arguments are totally irrational.

If you wanna tell me that I cannot draw Muhamad because some dude interpreted it out of an ancient book you are automatically forcing your religious views on me, which is absolutely not acceptable.

The right to criticize remains fundamental. And if you dont like it, you are free to criticize their criticism.

KKK should have been banned a long time ago, like many other nonsense in the USA...

KKK is actively trying to undermine basic fundamental principles of the US constitution.

You want to debate the pros and cons of a religion,by all means go ahead. However, holding auctions and exhibitions to make caricatures does not fall in that category.

Organized efforts in public to malign a religion spreads hatred among common people. If someone wants to do that, then he should choose a proper platform for that.

It is hatred only when you consider something too sacred to criticize and fail to see it from others' point of view who don't share your opinion. No religion, no ideology, no political discourse is sacred and above criticism, debate and ridicule. Certainly not Islam!

I think this kind of blackmail by Islamists that threaten to kill anyone who draw cartoons is a kind of SHOW OF STRENGTH on their part. I think more than any religious demand, it is a kind of message saying don't mess with us. Once you allow them that space, then will keep coming back with more demands ultimately culminating in demand for Shariah.

What next? Don't spit in the direction of Mecca or else?

I don't think you will like the idea of if I publicly demonstrate caricatures of your community, or something that you believe in. If you want to debate, criticise, choose a proper platform, talk to those people who know about the subject, why holding public exhibitions ? Clearly the idea was to make cheap fun at the cost of others' belief.

If intentionally offending and being insensitive for a certain demography translates into being awarded the adjective of scum bags, shouldn't the same apply to certain members here who would refer others as dot heads... what say? how do you rate such personalities?
