Perhaps you've had a bad experience?

Human nature dictates that when someone doesn't like you, you make an effort to be nice to them. However, when that doesn't work, you stop trying. Most of this is learned from general everyday experiences when people are children, and it carries on into adult life.

You can't blame people for doing what their nature and experiences have taught them, because then you are artificially conditioning them.

If someone doesn't like the world for what it is, that's a pity. However, they also do not have the right to unfairly ridicule, or attempt to take someone's freedom to behave naturally away from them.
