As a matter of fact, yes, flatulence does contain methane (along with other gases) hence is combustable. However, as the chart below shows, the volume that is produced by a human is much less compared to cattle.another point, what about farting...does that produce methane..if so we should start looking at reducing the number of people
The only point that was being made through this thread was that that everything on earth (that includes human too) contributes to the environment and needed to maintain balance. Too few, the balance is tipped, too many, the balance is tipped again. It has nothing to do with insulting someone's religious beliefs but unfortunately certain people cant raise themselves up from a certain point and wish to see everything while wearing thick spectacle of religious fervor. Instead of personally attacking the OP, they should try to counter the arguments made in the posts. However, where the arguments end, taking cheap shots begin as it can be seen here and many other threads. An old and tried an tested technique, make noise and cry wolf. This is a very very old news man. I had read it 5 6 years back. Stop acting like this. Syed bahiii was sharinga good point. Lets stick to science.
It should not be difficult for rest of posters to see through that in write up and facts presented argues for exactly opposite of what is propounded by OP @syedali73 .
Fact: Cows are one of largest emitter of greenhouse gases - True.
Fact: Cows are wild Animal -False.
Fact: Cows are bred by human for meat - True.
Fact: Is the abnormally high number of cows on planet due to natural birth rate - False.
So, Cows , which would have numbered in millions had they not been domesticated. number around 1.4 Billion because human need them for milk and meat. They are artificially bred and raised so that they could supply humans with meat and dairy. On ranches they are fattened using corn which wrecks their digestive system and actually cause them to emit unnaturally copius amount of methane.
All these arguments taken together fervently argue that humans should stop consuming cows so that they are not raised for beef and thus save all the greenhouse gas emission that would incur from their large population due to artificial breeding.
Hell. It even argues for going completely vegetarian as it is most sustainable way for life. Earth could support 11 billion vegetarians on current resources but could only support 2 billion non-vegetarians. Raising animal for meat is water intensive, foodgrain intensive, land intensive, and is harsh on environment. It is the most inefficient way of fulfilling our nutritional requirements.
Here is a relevant article in scientific American exalting virtues of vegetarian living.

It should be noted that OP came to such a counterintutive conclusion out of his hatred for Hindus.

You on a personal level will eat for two primary reasons -
i. Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and Sikhs/Indians revere them.
ii. You like it.
Most don't. Except those who open threads to satisfy their ego.Muslims consider pigs filthy, but Non Muslims eat them, does it mean they eat to insult Muslims or is it because they have been eating them for thousands of years? Don't be such a baby.
THIS is the reason. @Jaanbaz.The obsession with cows is growing
ever since beef was banned in one state in India
Not the Sikhs? Oh ok? Try doing something silly to a cow in front of Nankana Sahib and let me know. Ranjit Singh had a total ban on cow slaughter when the Sikhs ruled you. No issue, lol.By your logic then we also must have been eating monkeys.
And please do not club Sikhs into it they dont have issue with eating cow meat
Human can think and find ways to protect Ozone cows cant so NO you cant apply it on human
Last year I myself went to one. It generates enough power to light up a number of families. For no cost and no maintenance. It's not very 'cool' though.Due to Cow & Buffalo many our Villages produce BIOGAS
It should not be forced on them. I believe if they believe in something and stand firm on it , it is their rights. The problem starts only when they stop others from eating cow meat.
Would it be the same case with Pork as well?
How much methane will be produced per kg beef ?As a matter of fact, yes, flatulence does contain methane (along with other gases) hence is combustable. However, as the chart below shows, the volume that is produced by a human is much less compared to cattle.
