I think it was the incompetent petroleum minister who misinformed him. You never never claim reserves based upon seismic data.

I have been saying this for months on this forum.

Maybe that is who the petroleum minister was fired by IK.

But still the responsibility lies on his shoulders for being incompetent and lacking the ability to make the correct and sensible decisions. A leader is the one who leads others, not the one who follows others foolishly.

The DST test pulls the fluid samples. If the fluids are mostly formation water then there is no need to do the Transient Pressure test (the Transient Build Up Test is the three week test).

I blame the stupid media as well.

The Kekra episode should be understood by Imran Khan and his government to teach him the following lessons:

1. Don't count your chickens before they hatch
2. Don't look for quick fix ideas that take the corrupt people off the hook
3. Hire better experts to guide you
4. Keep discussion of potential finds internal, and don't leak anything to the media
5. FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS on ALL the Reforms you need to make; you have 4 years left to show progress (Study all the liberalizations India, Bangladesh, and ASEAN countries have made to become competitive, including agricultural reforms)
6. The people will forgive this, but will think of you as foolish if you talk like this again
7. Learn to turn this failure to your advantage politically. Tell the people that they need reforms, because their is no free oil coming, motivate the people to point out corruption where they see it, like smuggling that hurts local industries. the sooner they clamp down on corruption and pay taxes and privatize loss making industries, the sooner our industries can start exporting again, and our farms can get the investment they need to become more productive.

Pakistan still has one resource they can exploit which is confirmed to exists... Shale oil and gas. You just have to drill horizontal multistage fractured wells.

Spend the $100million there next time.

Fan boy you do not knows anything else.you just jumping like a monkey and feel happy deep inside, but guess what we have more oil reserve and gas reserve all over pakistan.

This once again proves that imran khan is very naive and childish, there was no reason for him to personally boost about this drilling and discovery of oil/gas from off-shores. But I am sure he will not learn from this mistake and will keep repeating this type of over-hyped shenanigans in future too.
