Every bit helps I suppose. Although is this discovery big enough to justify cost of extraction? I am not an expert. Others who are can answer this question adequately.

1000 cft of gas is about 1-million BTU. It means daily production of 9-million cft is about 9K million BTU. At $5 per million BTU, it gives $45K revenue per day or about $16-million per year. It should be commercially viable.

It is an on-shore well hence not very expensive to drill. Excluding the cost of the 'Rig' which I would presume that OGDC already has, cost of drilling about 10 K ft deep well should not be much more than about $10-million.

Good Point, maybe Exxon and Eni will be back in January to explore in other areas. Hopefully the government will wait till the "discovery is ready to be discovered" by Exxon. We can wait and see what happens in 2020's exploration season when the waters calm down.

Why dont we explore kpk agreesively I read we need like around 400 wells to find there. I know it will cost but its worth try for.

The window to explore and drill depends on the sea state, and the next window of calm waters starts in January 2020. Hence, we wont see any off shore exploration until then, but once 2020 comes around we should keep an eye out for exxon to be back. They gathered data, and may try to negotiate another exploration deal.

Pakistan needs better survey ships to map the undersea and under sea floor resources. Pakistan should also carry out a national survey of all potential sites for the known resources we have and any suspected resources.
