The US figure skating team has a lot of neat personalities, especially the couples free skating who are actually a "couple," but the story has been these two. Wow!

The fifth time was the charm for Aljona Savchenko, a Ukrainian who has skated in five Olympic Games for two different countries and with three different partners. In PyeongChang, she finally realized her Olympic dream of winning gold.

Together with partner Bruno Massot, Savchenko, who skates for Germany, was in fourth place after the short program. But she and Massot were the only couple among the top three to skate a clean free program, which vaulted them to the top of the podium. Their scores were the highest ever recorded for the pairs long program and it was enough for gold. After earning two bronze medals at previous Olympics with another partner, Savchenko said of her first, long-awaited gold: “I never give up. I keep fighting.”

They were in 4th place last night because he fell, and he's a rookie while this is her 5th Olympic without a gold!!! So the poor guy man, the pressure was on him hahaha but what a performance! They scored a perfect score. If you haven't seen it here it is.

From a medal perspective, it's certainly been an underwhelming Olympics. To many athletes not performing up to their capability. Regardless, I'm still very proud of this team!

To see Nathan Chen redeem himself tonight with 6 quads was fantastic. It's a shame the Olympic pressure got to him in his short program.

Olympic Athlete from Russia has moved ahead of the US into 5th spot. They don't have any gold medals but have 11 overall to the US' 10. Norway just tearing up these Olympics.

Finland is playing Sweden in men's hockey ATM and it's pretty wild to watch European hockey. Even though the game has certainly changed in the US just in the past 5 years alone, the physicality is completely different in Europe. There's hardly any checking in the Euro game compared to the NHL which has even really dropped in that department. Can't have hockey without checking!?

Maame Biney is 18 YO and is a short-track speed skater. She didn't do well in her first attempt and was bumped out of any medal round but she'll be back in '22 there's no doubt about that because she's really young and really fast and by then will have a lot more experience.

Just read where the US has 8 4th place finishers and 16 5th-6th place finishers. We have very good depth, that's just underperforming slightly.

US has reclaimed the 5th spot for overall medals with an additional gold medal to France for the tie-breaker.
