The US figure skating team is currently in 2nd place in the team event after 2 programs.

Jessica Diggins finished 5th in the cross country 15km skiing event. That's the highest an American woman has finished in the sport.

Looking forward to watching Lindsey Vonn perform in the downhill, super-G and the combined. What a tremendous athlete she is (a gorgeous blonde she is as well!) :-) Especially since she missed 2014 with that injury. She would've cleaned house with medals had she been able to perform.

Women's ski jump is going to be fantastic also. It'll be hard for the US to place even a medal in that IMO considering the Japanese dominate that event along with several European countries.

The US isn't going to do well in hockey, unfortunately since they're sending amateurs only and with the likes of Russia and the Canadians and given the rest of the pool, a bronze will be a miracle but let's go USA!

EDIT: Forgot the Russians are not participating this year.

NBC televising luge, ski-jump and unfortunately snowboarding, something I'm not really into TBH. But definitely looking forward to once they get into curling and definitely speed skating!

Let's go USA!

Great interview with her and Katie Couric too. I don't think there's a single unattractive American female participating in this year's Olympics LOL! :D Probably the reason why I subconsciously like to watch mostly the women's events loooool. They also seem to play team sports much better as single units than the men's. Always huddling and high-fiving and really into winning as a unit. The camaraderie they exhibit is really outstanding when it comes to these events.

Mazdzer won the first medal for the US in mens single luge in our history!

I watched that and it was great! That turn 9 was brutal for almost all of them and he was just having a ball and he hardly looked tense at all. His mom was in the crowd cheering for him like a little kid it was great. I think this was his 3rd or 4th Olympic and he had never medaled until now. These are the cool stories that come out of these events.

I actually enjoyed the first snowboarding event, despite how I feel about that sport. I think it had to do with the course and that it required more than just flying as high as you can on the half-pipe.

The US is currently in 5th place with a total of 2 medals, 1 gold and 1 silver. Everyone is looking up at Norway with 8 medals: 1 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.

@Vergennes

Perrine Laffont wins gold in women's moguls. She beat the favorite from Canada who was supposed to repeat.

Canada takes the silver and the girl from Kazakhstan won the bronze. Pretty cool.

The Norwegians are going to be tough to beat, they just cleaned house in the cross-country competition.

Norway has always been great in the Winter Olympics. They rack up so many medals in the long distance skiing events.

Germany and Canada also have strong teams.

No Russian Athletes no , value to this Olympics
