Contrary to your claim if any thing happen to the victim's family it is the government who will be blamed first. So no sensible government will target the families whose name will be disclosed. What government is to gain by targeting the family members if really their family member died!!! All the opposition and journalists also will keep an eye on the families to see whether any one is attacked or not. 100 to 1000 is too high a figure to believe. Can you show any picture or video footage which shows these large number of dead. All the media and people those who live there also taken photograph and made video there. But no such video is ever found.

Lastly even hefazat was doing a survey also how many died on the incident. They also failed to come up with any credible answer. You cant deny the fact that an interested group was actively looking for dead bodies even penetrated into the hefazat gathering to create violence and made a rumor like 2500-eve 25000 people died and their bodies were taken in a truck and displayed fake pictures of other incident!!

EU expresses concern over Adilur’s arrest

DHAKA: The European Union has expressed concern over arrest of Odhikar secretary Adilur Rahman Khan and urged government to observe due process at all stages of proceedings against him.

In the statement on Monday, EU said: “The EU diplomatic missions to Bangladesh have been closely monitoring the case of Adilur Rahman Khan, the Secretary of Odhikar, since the news of his detention first broke on August 10.

Respect for human rights and democratic principles as laid down in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights underpins the domestic and international policies of Bangladesh and the EU, and constitutes an essential element of our relations, as spelt out in Article 1 of the Cooperation Agreement between the European Community and the People`s Republic of Bangladesh on partnership and development.

We are familiar with Adilur Rahman Khan and with Odhikar`s reporting of human rights abuses in Bangladesh. We consider that a vibrant civil society and the work of human rights defenders have important roles to play in the strengthening of human rights in this country.

We have conveyed our detailed concerns about the detention of Adilur Rahman Khan to the relevant authorities in Bangladesh. It is essential that no harm comes to him.

We urge the authorities to observe due process at all stages of the proceedings against him, and in particular ensure full respect for his human rights.

The diplomatic missions of Norway and Switzerland in Bangladesh associate themselves with this statement.”

EU, US concerned over Adil detention

DHAKA, Aug 12: The European Union (EU) and the US have expressed their concern over the detention of Odhikar secretary Adilur Rahman Khan. They also laid emphasis on the need to follow the due process in all proceedings against the official of the human rights organisation, who was arrested by police on Saturday night. Meanwhile, the foreign ministry has insisted that the Odhikar secretary was arrested following due legal procedures, only after a general diary was filed.“We have conveyed our detailed concerns about the detention of Mr Adilur Rahman Khan to the relevant authorities in Bangladesh. It is essential that no harm comes to him,” said a EU press statement on Monday.

“In a democracy, it is essential that the government create an environment in which organizations like Odhikar can freely operate,” she said.“We have reached out to the government for an explanation of Adil’s detention, noting that the human rights activist’s detention is reverberating negatively around the world, where the work of Odhikar and other human rights organizations is widely appreciated,” said the official.

“We urge Bangladeshi authorities to effect Adil’s immediate release from detention while the government pursues through the judicial process any legal issues it may have against him,” she added.According to sources in the foreign ministry, the US State Department has also communicated with the Bangladesh embassy in Washington to register its concern about Khan’s detention.

The sources confirmed that the US embassy in Dhaka had also contacted the foreign ministry about the issue. The US embassy official wanted to know the nature of charges that resulted in the detention, they said.

“We strongly urge the authorities to treat Adilur Rahman Khan in accordance with Bangladeshi and international laws,” said a source quoting the US official. In response, the foreign minister has provided an ‘aide memoire’, a written summary or outline of important items of a diplomatic communication, to the US embassy explaining the government’s position on the arrest of the Odhikar secretary.

“He (Adil) was arrested in connection with a general diary filed against him with the Gulshan police station under Article 57(1) and (2) of the Information and Communication Technology Act, 2006,” stated the ‘aide memoire’ obtained by The Independent.
“The offences covered under the ICT Act, 2006, are non-cognisable in nature, but are non-bailable and subject to arrest without warrant. Adilur Rahman Khan was, however, arrested only after filing of the GS following due legal procedures, and since then, presented before the court,” it added.

But even in a BBC report, I found 60 people were killed amid the protest against the Saidy verdict.

about. Those were result of more than one week of conflict. Also those blind supporters
were so desperate and disasterous.They were openly killing polices and civillians. Also
burning public and private properties. So police had to.......
But did we see anything like that on 6th may. Hefajotis/jamaatis were cruel that day.
But nothing like the jamaat terrorists act before.
Any sane person can understand this.

The problem with BAL is simple they are fascists. They have no way of countering opposition. Their first and last instinct is violence. It is no surprise the natural state of the country is one of moderation and a pluralistic democracy. Fascism can not survive in that model hence the plan to reintroduce BKSHAL and perpetuate a cult based dictatorship.


As ever they will come up against the will of the people. I applaud this further step in curtailing democracy for ultimately this will hasten the fall of this illegitimate government that came to power in a rigged election funded by an enemy nation.
