the "socialist people's libyan jamahiriya" was a nation in africa that came about in 1969 when the libyans, muammar gaddafi and his comrades in the libyan army, overthrew the western puppet king, idris, and established socialist system in libya and changed the nation's name to the aforementioned.

muammar gaddafi was much inspired by nasser and che guevara and fidel castro and the achievements of tito in yugoslavia.

gaddafi's idea was that if a government exists it should be for the welfare of its citizens and for the benefit of humanity, therefore the ideology of that society should be universal, not limiting itself to region or religion... the ideology developed in libya became called "the third universal theory" or "jamahiriya"... jamahiriya is a invented artificial word that derives from the arabi word "jamhooriya" which means a republic ( non-monarchy modern parliamentary system )... but "jamahiriya" meant "a republic ruled by the masses", referring to the direct-democracy nature of the ideology... my user-name, jamahir, means someone either a citizen of a jamahiriya society or someone propagating for jamahiriya.

the "revolutionary command council" established by gaddafi and his comrades reorganized libya into self-governing direct-democracy cities and regions ( similar to aap "swaraj" ) with socialism as the guiding philosophy.

absolutely... jamahiriya ( or third universal theory ) is meant to be a human-wide socialist ideology, is practical enough to be adopted and adapted by any society... it is being implemented in venezuela ( south america ), despite libyan jamahiriya no longer existing after the nato invasion of 2011.

"aam aadmi party", like i said, has the "swaraj" concept of local governance and it is similiar to jamahiriya... to implement such a thing would require collaboration between every progressive group like aap and the communists.

i will give you example of the comforts and prosperity that this socialist ideology brought to libya... below is reporting by a brazil journalist on visit to tripoli ( capital of libya ) in 1976...
