Even this joke stuff can do lasting damage. Years ago, when I first started commenting, I caught a Frenchman in a similar error, a man who claimed that the news story (a fake) was the reason why he was angry at George W. Bush.

When I pointed out that the story clearly said it was satire (but in small letters at the bottom) he thanked me for the correction, but he pointed out that even though he knew it was a fake, he still felt angry at George W. Bush.

G-d bless the French, for they know what they are!
