Obama administration announces $6.4 billion arms sale package to Taiwan

"I think US can use this Arms deal to let China accept their stance over Iran and not block the UN SC resolution..."

We could...but we won't.

Separate issues and we're committed to Taiwan's defense. Remember that the Taiwanese also asked for F-16s. Not this time, though. No F-16s.

We'll attempt to convince the PRC to support the UNSC based on the logic WRT NPT compliance that the Iranians freely committed to and have yet to withdraw from.

China will likely kill the resolution for reasons of energy. They'll privately tell others they did so because of Taiwan. They'll likely publically state that there's insufficient evidence of non-compliance.

We'll likely cross swords someday, somewhere. Not yet. Not time for them nor us. Someday though. Whether it's just a lil' fracas or a big one will be the question.

I know this-our reconnaissance ships and flights near their turf have escort now.

Thanks.:usflag:

That IS my caliber. If you have something better so say, please do.

I agree it is YOUR caliber. I was just quoting you to yourself. I don't have anything better to say.

It would have been better to address the real concern rather than letting me know my caliber which I already have admitted to be mine. This age and this childish behavior.

Thanks for posting Qsaark's quote.

I've got him on "ignore" for about 3 months and for very good reason. He wasn't first but made the list very early on. He's deserving of such but his comment about the Chinese is a perfect example of my warning to them that the Pakistanis are inclined to eventually bite any hand which feeds them.

Worse, it was simply prejudicial to both Jews and Chinese as well as crudely rude.

It is, indeed, his calibre of discourse.

Thanks.:usflag:

I think these little issues do have an impact , First the google sensorship thing , now the Taiwanese Arms deal , Most probably the Chinese would not support the UNSC sanctions against Iran .
I think the US knewed that , Chinese would not support the sanctions on Iran , So to me it looks like , US is not letting the Chinese to extract more juice out of Iran , as the Iranians hinted of buying some Chinese military Hardware(J-10s) .. . .!

You got me on "Ignore" cause I nailed you with all your lies and disinformations on certain issues especially the role of the occupation forces and drugs in Afghanistan. you call it 'ignore' I call it 'escape'.

And for the issue at hand, the reply is same for you, address the real concern rather than chewing the words. Looks like the able Americans are having trouble understanding the meaning of "The Jews of the East". No wonder, 90% of them even don't know where China is found on the world map, while half of their economy is bought out by the Chinese.

This is the war of words, nothing more nothing less. Chinese are very well aware that at the end of the day, whatever US is selling to Taiwan is going to end up in the hands of the Chinese. China does not even have to fire a single bullet to get the Taiwan back; It has already bought out a considerable portion of US financial assets, and when the right time would come, pulling out just a portion of that money/investment would bring the US down to its already crumbling knees. US is one unfortunate country, first it was hijacked by the Jews, now it is becoming a hostage of the Jews of the East, the Chinese. The blame does neither go to the Jews nor to the Chinese, but to the greed of the American businessmen and the politicians who would do anything to maximize their profit even if it means sending the jobs out, or replacing the American work force with the illegal immigrants.

I disagree with both the "Stubborn Tool" and the mighty truthseeker on their off-handed judgment here. Naturally I cannot agree to Mr. Q's views on a wholesale basis. But can I say his view is wholly without basis?

The power of stereotypes lies in its ability to ring close to a "truism".

The speed with which they are dismissed also tells us something. I instinctively grasped this even while living in China.

What Mr. Q wrote but gave a taste of decades of post-WWII "American Nationalist" view, if not the "white nationalist" view. Usually the more "erudite" will work Cultural Marxism, Frankfort school, feminist / diversity advocates, and a "naive" and "self-serving" WASP managerial class into a seamless treatise ...

Some go for the Pre-WWII vintage.

But I trust that Mr. Q has his own angles that differ from the above. An Islamic socio-economic view angle should not be dismissed out of hand with off-the-shelf Western labels such as "anti-Semites".

Without having the mods charge me with flagrant derailing of a thread, I wish to halt here, except to say that there should not be a haste in passing judgment (both on and from Mr. Q).

I will tell you this, Nitrogen, I am far, far, far more interested in Iran than in Taiwan in year 2010.

I need all the help I can get to figure out Iran.

Taiwan is mostly "figured out" although surprises can never be ruled out.

...
"Or more importantly, I am not sure if they even want to know the answer."

Perhaps but if they won't seek the answer then the answer shall seek them in ways that defy any hope of shaping the future. That appears a separate issue though.

Crisp and not un-befitting a retired intelligence officer of an artillery corp indeed. Uncle Sam must thank you for "volunteering" your time and service here.

Perhaps the difference between who you think are "leaders" or should be "leaders" and the average Joe is merely the difference between first class and luggage bay - with some in between? Perhaps there is no one in the cockpit?

Perhaps that's all they can do - waiting for an answer to "seek them out" just like the rest of us. That's what I call "equality", though hardly comforting ... Perhaps it was true after all - leadership had departed after 1989, on the Tiananmen Square.

When Deng died, the last Sultan died. Today all China has are Pashas.

For better or worse ...

More reason for the Chinese to start praying, IMO.

Alright, here I see the members are not clear about the usage of "The Jews of the East". This has nothing to do with antisemitism. Jews are known for their skills in business and trade. We call the Chinese "Jews of the East" because they are also great in business and trade (I have myself observed them during my stay in Malaysia and Singapore). Again, no antisemitism here, in fact praise for their skills in business and trade.

Please go the following links and see in which context I used "The Jews of the East":

Indeed. Your warning applies to us all. Unquestionably great men abound not unlike those of our not-too-distant past. Virtually all, however, are sufficiently smart to carve a brilliant life without assuming the responsibilities of leadership. TRUE altruistic leadership. Why assume the headache when the risks aren't sufficiently imperative yet to demand their special talents?

We are left with managers. Leaders lead PEOPLE while managers manage SYSTEMS.

One of the sad realities of pluralistic democracy is the imposition of "advise and consent". It dramatically slows and dilutes impact of individual greatness-by intent. So too, fortunately, it dramatically reduces the impact of unstable demogogues.

It does push power to the lowest realms when reasonably implemented. Canada seems an excellent example of fully distributed power.

Thanks.:usflag:

Well, at least some difference between me and your criminal

politicians, please read the link below and judge for yourself who

Oh my ~~~ Canada is an example??
Who cares about Canada... At least I don't...
Canada geographic location made it this way... Having US as neighbor, if Canada is surrounded by potential enemies... I don't see any chances of Canada surviving and maintain its sovereignty.
