NSG armed with 'dum dum' bullets to counter hijack situation

Yes what you need is layers of overlapping security and no one measure is foolproof so having sealed doors alone is not enough nor is deploying Air Marshals. One thing that is appreciated the world over is he ability by terrorists to adapt their tactics and techniques to find weak spots in their enemies and then to exploit them. Hence the entire systems needs to be made as secure as possible. Having a terrorist on a plane ready to carry out their attack is a worst case scenario ideally they should have been stopped before they ever get to an airport by intel agencies and if not then on the ground by security checks. Even if you have he best trained sky marshals on a plane armed with hollow-points and the like the margin for error is so tight- one poorly placed round fired in a pressurised airliner can lead to disaster ie explosive decompression.

Ya nothing is 100% but the door is bullet proof so incase of a situation it gives the Pilots the luxury of time to do some manouvers and land at the nearest airport and this is where the sky marshal comes in coz he can neutralise these terrorists easily with these new bullets.

I'm really surprised the NSG has only just adopted hollow point bullets. They have an entire wing devoted to counter hijacking and sky-marshaling. Hollow point bullets have been the norm for that job for some time now, for obvious reasons - the last thing you want is a shrapnel from a marshal's gun bringing down an entire airplane.

Or we can implement a Israel type security procedure. They have had lots of success implementing such a procedure and it is one of the best in the world.

El Al security procedures require that all passengers be interviewed individually prior to boarding, allowing El Al staff to identify possible security threats. Passengers will be asked questions about where they are coming from, the reason for their trip, their job or occupation, and whether they have packed their bags themselves. The likelihood of potential terrorists remaining calm under such questioning is believed to be low.

At the check-in counter, passengers' passports and tickets are closely examined. A ticket without a sticker from the security checkers will not be accepted. At passport control passengers' names are checked against information from the FBI, Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), Scotland Yard, Shin Bet, and Interpol databases. Luggage is screened and sometimes hand searched. In addition, bags are put through a decompression chamber simulating pressures during flight that could trigger explosives. El Al is the only airline in the world that passes all luggage through such a chamber. Even at overseas airports, El Al security agents conduct all luggage searches personally, even if they are supervised by government or private security firms.

Undercover agents (sometimes referred to as sky marshals) carrying concealed firearms sit among the passengers on every international El Al flight. Most El Al pilots are former Israeli Air Force pilots. The cockpits in all El Al aircraft have double doors to prevent entry by unauthorized persons. A code is required to access the doors, and the second door will only be opened after the first has closed and the person has been identified by the captain or first officer. Furthermore, there are reinforced steel floors separating the passenger cabin from the baggage hold.

Following an attempt to shoot down an Israeli airliner in 2002, all aircraft in the fleet have been equipped with an infrared countermeasures system called Flight Guard, developed by Israeli Aerospace Industries to defend them against anti-aircraft missiles.

these bullets are banned to be used in wars i saw a documentary in discovery where they showed these bullets were used at some point in wwii it had hideous results after that it was never used as it was termed inhuman

Yes I heard this too. But I just thought it was a bit of an oxymoron calling them "inhumane bullets"!! They are bullets after all not candy, their job is to kill!

Just before I got called away I was going to mention El Al's security! Yes if I could I'd have this security implemented for every airline and airport but of course it would not be practical so there will always be an element of risk when using commercial airlines.

I have heard the SAG counter-hijack units have had these for decades but I honk this news relates purely to NSG Air Marshels.

India deploys air-marshals or commandos in it's planes?

It was done after the Flight 814 failed hostage rescue attempt. The plane from Nepal landed in Amritsar, but took off before the NSG got there. They landed at Kandahar, killed one hostage, and released the others when India released 3 terrorists which it had captured.

So they decided that every airfield in a high threat area will have a contingent of Black Cats, and more importantly, every flight will have two air marshals.
