I personally get very angry when Indians,especially their media claim 1971 war as their victory only.But they fails to recognise India entered the war on 3rd Dec,and war was over on 16th Dec.India did not do it alone,we set up the platform and they put the final nails to the coffin.
16th Dec is near,if you tune into Indian news channels on that day you will hardly find name of Bangladesh being mentioned.It was a joint effort,and without the presence of any one of them it would not have been possible.

There is no doubt about that. The point is without Indian help it would have taken much longer (and may possibly have been brutally suppressed) and the continuing bloodshed and atrocities would have continued for much longer.

I agree with you 100%.But for some strange reason I think the war should have been longer.If we had struggled for 9 years than 9 months,then I think people would never dared to talk like turning BD into Pakistan,as some extremists in our country does.
This does not mean I don't want military and economical co operation with Pakistan.It means we can have all the co operations in every field but the sovereignty of Bangladesh remains FIRM.
BD-PAK,we are friends but NOT THE SAME COUNTRY.

I am surprised that I did not see this earlier.

My father was a doctor during the 1971 war and was located in areas of some of the heaviest fighting. He said the figure of 3 million was wildly exaggerated and he with his team had to travel 20 or 30 miles before they found any injured or dead. If the killing and raping had been on the scale suggested by the Indians and Mujib my father would have seen it and could confirm what happened. If the conflict was so one sided why are there so few mass graves? The Indians should stop peddling this rubbish and Bangladesh scholars and researchers should look afresh at what actually happened.

The real reason why India did not intervene earlier was to ensure the Russians backed them up and that Indira Gandhi wanted to extort a 7 point understanding with the Mujib Nagar government that the future Bangladesh government would remain a vassal state of India. In fact the agreement set out the manner India would run Bangladesh through the Rakkhi Bahini paramilitary force which killed tens of thousands on the orders of Mujib and Moni. If we wish to see things in perspective the policies of Mujib which followed closely the diktats of Moscow and New Delhi helped to kill 3 million Bangladeshis through mass starvation and famine. This episode in our history is rarely discussed. Who is responsible for these 3 million deaths and the murders and raping conducted by the Rakkhi Bahini?

There is also a conspiracy theory that Sheikh Mujib was assassinated by RAW and KGB,because Mujib was Capitalist and just a year back,he attended the IOC conference in Pakistan,correct me if I am wrong.Which displeased the Indians.Recently KGB documents were released,I am trying to get a hold of it and the post elaborately.
But personally I think its just a conspiracy theory.

Actually CIA appears to have been behind Mujib killing. RAW knew it was going to happen but kept quite for the reasons you stated.

You should read Legacy of Bloob by Anthony Mascarenhas. It is very informative.

RAW was behind the jail killing incident where Tajuddin Ahmed and 3 other national leaders were killed. India did not want a nationalist leader like Tajuddin to appear and adopt an independent policy from New Delhi. Those who have been accused of the Jail Killings were recently acquitted by the High Court because they were not involved. It was a RAW group that did the job. RAW was almost certainly behind the killing of Ziaur Rahman.

The book was never meant to be an international bestseller. It is too specialist for that. What is important is that English books by Bangladeshis do not sell at all well in BD but this did and now the book is in its second edition. If there was not a demand the revision would not have paid.

I do not watch Indian/Pakistani serials so I do not know the terms.

I know what raddiwalla mean
But here in bd we call them Kagaz walla.as they shout "Ai kagaz(paper)"

We watch hindi films but I am sick of these hindi serials,can't watch EPL because my mom watches these serials

Tajuddin Ahmed was a good man as far as I know.Do you think Khondokar Moshtaq was aided by RAW or ISI??
It might be possible for RAW to be behind killing of Ziaur Rahman.

Munshi, would you like to shed more light into the idea that Indian forces and RAW agents were involved in the struggle by making the situation worst, as in raping, murdering, etc.. in the name of the Pakistani forces?

Also what was the performance of the media throughout the war.
