What's new

Not a single Nishan e Haider has been awarded during Pakistan's war against terror. Why?

According to the militarys convoluted thinking WOT is not a declared war but a conflict or something like a military action therefore no shaheed is eligible for NH HJ SJ TJ instead medals like HBt SBt etc are being awarded. I've argued with honorable serving officers on this forum stating that the color of shed blood is the same for any military action be it declared war against another country or insurgency within the country.

Awarding NH means we are declaring war within our territory. In that scenario, you cannot rule out intervention of world community especially UN, media and humanitarian organisation. So it is better to keep it our domestic issue. Response of Gen Hadayt on this particular issue.

You don't get Nishan e Haiders for fighting against a bunch of yahoos with $2 headgears and $3 Afghani chappals! :p:

The Nishan-e-Haider can only be awarded to members of the Pak Armed Forces for the highest acts of extraordinary bravery in the face of a well trained enemy in air, land or sea in war, and not during peace time.

Military reserves the right to decide who gets the Award ...however if a soldier does his duty they already get the respect of nation

Soldiers fight to protect their nation , they never fight for awards

Our forces are fighting the most bloody war in the history of Pakistan
Most bloody war? Are you joking? How many soldiers have died in 1948, 1965, 1971 and 1999? And how many have died in this so-called war?

Almost 57,000 Pakistanis – combatants and non-combatants – have been killed since 2001. Of these, about 21,500 are civilians. Nearly 40,000 civilians have been wounded. There are about 1.4 million refugees or internally displaced Pakistanis.

^That is a report from 2005-2010

2004-2013: 81,000 to 82,000 Pakistanis killed. Mostly civilians, around 6,000 are Soldiers.

So yes it is one of the most bloodiest wars in Pakistani History. It's easy to fight a conventional war because the enemy wears a uniform, unconventional warfare is much tougher and requires more patience and grit.

It's a very good question which only PD can answer.

Our Intel Agencies & PA have fought very hard & are continuing to fight very hard against these rented terrorists, many heroes have lost their lives in this bloody battle.

NH is the highest award and is awarded after a lot of scrutiny. Though our soldiers have shown extreme velour during the operation Zarb e Azab. They are awarded medals accordingly. However, in my opinion NH or for that matter the highest military award in any country is awarded when a war is fought against and enemy country. In case of counter terrorism no country awards highest award. If NH is awarded to the martyrs of Zarb e Azab then there will be a long line because each Martyr has a story of chivalry and bravery compatible to each other and unprecedented in its ownself.
